All Welcome
border thread*

Though she hated to admit it, Hydra thought of @Rian frequently still. He had made her a promise, and she wondered if he remembered it—or if it was spoken in some kind of tired haze that meant it bore no truth. She licked her chops and grit her teeth, sitting upon the ledge they had shared when he had spent the night. After a beat, she rose to all fours and marched to the borders.

She stalked along them, irritable and huffy over the idea that Rian did not care for her. That he would not uphold his promise. And another thought occurred to her... perhaps she ought to pay him a visit, and let him know how she felt about being forgotten.

Kavos had no present concept of border patrol, but he was an excellent hunter— a fact that had kept him alive so far, and would continue to do so  as long as he didn't sustain crippling injury. For as long as he had all his facilities, even with his subpar social education, he carried with him the natural potential to survive well past the prime of most wolves. Even now, he hunted; ever the predator, and tracking down some recently made trails of a rabbit warren. Of the three stages of hunting—stalking, chasing, and killing—the stalking process was his least favorite portion of the job. But it was well worth the effort if he got a good chase in. His favorite part of hunting. The chase exhilarated him in a manner that it almost didn't matter a lot of the time whether or not he actually made a kill.

He triumphed this time, emerging with a fat jackrabbit between his teeth and a quick hunt for a secluded place to eat it. He hadn't gone very far when he caught Hydra's scent, and changed his meal-toting trajectory to meet her along the Spear's borders.

Hydra heard the sound of anothers approach and looked behind her to note the appearance of the newly accepted physique of Kavos come into view. Before she turned to meet him, Hydra moved to push her muzzle into the earth, the rest of her body slowly falling suit as she rolled around on her back, dirt and rocks and grass smearing an earthy concotion upon her as her own particular fragrance poured onto the borders. When she rose Hydra shook out her furs and trotted toward Kavos, her eyes locking upon the thing swinging between his jowls. Hydra slid into a partial dip, a half-assed but no less genuine play-bow, before she moved to close the distance between them to catch hold of the thing he held with a fiendish growl. Her own gait was bouncy and wild, her playful intent obvious.

As the boy and Hydra started to make way for one another, her posture changed a lowered, forcing Kavos into an uncertain pause as she swiftly closed the distance between them. The playfulness of her body language threw him off, and his mental gears became jammed between defending himself and indulging in the game. Before she could reach him however, his body seemed to make his mind for him, his body reflexively jerking sideways to evade her. The dangling lower body of his catch swung away from the snapping jaws of his opponent—no, packmate—and he spun away from her, his bounding steps beckoning her to first chase him if she truly wanted a share in the kill.

He reacted swiftly, and Hydra grinned. She had not wanted it to be easy, though had it been she would have been delighted. As he spun away, Hydra bounded after him, moving to attempt to surge beside him and again make a bid for his snack. Her tail waved all the while as she moved, attempting to echo his movements as best she could. Kavos was not predictable to her yet, given his newness to the pack, but she sought to learn more of him now.

Kavos— not particularly well-versed in the art of play— lost very quickly to the streaking Hydra, who struck like lightning and had the tail end of his meal without much more of a fight from him. Her speed and reflexes, having done these sorts of things with her equally as quick sisters before, surmounted his own capacity. In truth the boy only used his full potential was when he was trying to catch something, He had no mind for evading things, as he yet had very little reason to avoid things. Not without a pain index he didn't. So now the ridiculously sort game of chase had turned into tug of war, both parties wrenching apart the rabbit to see who would come victorious with the larger half.
