She'd been forced to stop for a few days and allow the last of the bad meat to leave her system. (A.K.A. she was hacking up chunks of dead fish for like three days.)
Once Uruuk had gotten some fresh water and a couple of rabbits in her stomach, along with some rest, she'd begun to feel better.
The meadow she was currently making her way through was much more pleasant than the last few places. The meadow was ordinary (green, grassy, dotted with wildflowers) save for its berry bushes. Juicy blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, berries Uruuk didn't even have a name for, they all seemed to grow here.
The female stopped by a particularly abundant blackberry bush, stretching out her fawn neck to sniff at one of the berries. Before she could pluck the berry off its stem, she heard a deep rumble.
The girl's hazelnut ears perked on her crown as her head turned, her champagne eyes widening as they took in a black bear lumbering out from behind the handful of blackberry bushes.
With several deep, grunting breaths the bear advanced towards Uruuk on surprisingly quick steps. The she-wolf, who had frozen, promptly turned and took off - racing for the distant edge of the meadow and the woods that lay beyond it.
The bear let loose a snarling rumble as they neared the edge of the clearing, swiping out with a heavy, black forepaw. The paw raked down Uruuk's right side, leaving several long, but shallow, gashes.
With a yelp of pain, the girl kicked it into maximum overdrive and fled the bear, who soon grew tired and waddled back to its berries.
