Burke's days were limited. He had known it and he had been very verbal about it. Though when it was time for him to go it still came as a surprise to the old male. Perhaps, secretly so, he wanted a few more minutes, a few more seconds. His life as a workaholic had worn his body too much, so much so that those extra minutes weren't granted. Naturally, Burke hadn't waited on his death inside the comforts of his den. No, the male always had been active in his own ways.
Today, while the pack was called together, Burke didn't feel like joining the festivities. The old guardian took it as his duty to patrol the borders while the others were enjoying themselves. As he walked towards the outskirts of their territory, he noticed an ache in his chest. He didn't pay much attention to it until a stab of pain took him down. What he didn't know was that his aorta just ruptured. The elder landed in the soft snow on his side but he didn't feel the cold of the snow seeping through his thin coat. His face turned to the bright super moon. The last thing he looked at before his eyes fell closed.
In his last moments, Burke thought about Malice. He hoped she would be alright without him. He drifted away until his soul left his body. Burke was not known as a good father but there was deep down someone who cared inside of the grumpy male. He just had a weird way of showing it throughout his life. There were many others that had an effect on his life and perhaps, he had some effect on their lives of others as well.
But Burke wouldn't be Burke as he didn't care about that shit at all.
