Silence grew within her soul like sun-drunk vines, and Oryx had become increasingly more withdrawn following the incident involving the pale witch who had attacked her without warning, and had bitten her ear off. While Oryx had never been a terribly vain wolf, she was well aware that her new appearance would attract some attention, and attention was not something that Oryx was particularly comfortable with. She did what hunting she needed to do for herself, and tended to the healing of her own ear, but otherwise kept to herself.
But that wouldn't last forever. She couldn't simply avoid everyone in the pack, especially not when they considered her to be a part of the family. Still- she couldn't help but feel as though she was a distant relation, and nothing more than that- as she had been allowed to heal on her own without turning heads or having others coming to check in on her. If nothing else, she found herself becoming more and more disenchanted with the idea of being a part of the pack- and found herself wondering if perhaps she wasn't better off simply returning to Thatcher Knoll, and accepting whatever punishment she'd face for having run away.
The thought crossed her mind and had her engulfed in misery when she looked up to see someone she didn't recognize trotting in her direction, looking as though he'd just come from where she knew Arlette's den to be. Having little faith in herself, and little trust for strangers, Oryx backed up, and attempted to shrink into a thicket in a somewhat noisy attempt to become a shadow.
