Alpine Lake solace

water dripped down her chin as the muzzle lifted, eyes turning to watch its approach.

large, grey. 

she licked the droplets off with a swipe of her tongue.

the hound was doelike, raising head to watch and ready to run. a calm confidence in her speed. uncertainty at its advantage in stamina.

the chuff had the effect of pebble dropped in a still pond. ripples ran trough her body as muscles twitched, tamed fur rose and fell. eyes slightly widened.

medalina was very, very still a moment.

then her chin lifted and fell in silent greeting.

the sighthound wouldn't run yet.
