A ghost in the world, Nanou drifted. Lamented. Followed snowswept hills with hopes of finding something worthwhile.
Keep herself fed, then find a tall tree to sleep under. Try to forget how much she longed for the touch of another.
Then she'd curse herself for such thoughts. Rinse, and repeat. The cycle was getting tiring, and the soldier who belonged to none was quickly falling into the lull of monotony. In some ways, it was freeing, and in others, oh so terribly maddening. She thought of plunging herself from some tall peaks and letting oblivion take her away.
She could not. The last gift she'd been given, her life, could not be wasted so.

Then she'd curse herself for such thoughts. Rinse, and repeat. The cycle was getting tiring, and the soldier who belonged to none was quickly falling into the lull of monotony. She could not. The last gift she'd been given, her life, could not be wasted so.
And Nanou did not deserve an easy way out in the first place.
