“Of course I’ll carry one of the pups,” Searchlight said. “Anything that you need.”

He was upset and worried about his mother and Baby. The thought of someone hurting them filled him with rage that he had a bit of trouble tamping down. 

But, for Easy’s sake, he did. He didn’t ask about who it was, and he didn’t go off hunting for whoever had hurt them. Instead, he remained calm, offered to do whatever they wanted. Perhaps he could deal later with the attacker.
