It was weird, being in a pack that he hadn’t been born into, but he didn’t object. It was something he’d talked pretty expansively about with his sister and how it would be in his best interest to be in a pack bigger than their group of 8 because with his blindness and inability to defend the group or even join in on a pack hunt, he needed more protection. He needed a place to feel secure. Hopefully this place would be able to provide him with that security. Thus far, no one had really said much about his blindness, at least not in front of him anyway, but he did find himself wondering how long it would take for others to actually notice that he was completely without sight. Because of his blindness, his other senses were heightened. His sense of smell was spot on, but it was his sense of hearing that far surpassed those with their sight.

He’d been doing some exploring of his new home, staying well within the borders since his breakdown in front of the boy that new his father. For the most part, he didn’t even go all that far away from where he slept with his sister and Verrine. Today, though, he wandered a little further away purely because something had actually caught his attention. It was a very strong scent that drew him away from the den he shared with the others, something he didn’t recall ever having smelt before. Getting nearer and nearer to where the strange smell was coming from, he thought he heard a sound.

Coming to a sudden halt, he pushed his ears fully forward, listening. His nostrils flared as he sniffed the air. Sightless eyes obviously saw nothing. “Hello?” he finally called out. “Is someone there?” He was tense, ready to turn and try to run away from whatever or whoever it was in case they proved to be aggressive. He knew the path behind him very well and wasn’t worried about tripping or running into a tree.

hi

Two Face

Two Face had been exploring his new home for some time now he felt confident that he could walk the paths with his eyes closed if he wanted. He had been putting off interacting with any of the pack out of a fear that he would insult them and be chased away. That’s the main reason he had be procrastinating with becoming familiar with his new home, and why he became a Windwalker. He felt ashamed of himself for hiding away in such a silly task.

Walking far from where the pack mainly congregates Two Face didn’t worry about running in to other wolves. Today was different though he had a surprise visitor a silver wolf speckled with bits of gray. The silver wolfs body was tense he stood calling out to something or someone. Curiosity got the better of Two Face as it always seemed to. He approached this wolf cautiously trying to be as quiet as possible so he didn’t scare off whatever he was speaking with.

This silver male was new to the pack Two Face remembered seeing him come in with that group of wolves that Koontz met at the border. With every step the unease growing in Two Faces stomach felt like it was going to cause him to explode. Two Face stopped a respectable distance from the new wolf and debated over the best introduction. Before he knew it the words were out of his mouth, and a lot louder than he meant for them to be. ” Hi I’m Two Face Windwalker of the Dragonwatchers whats your name!”

His body quivered with tension, the unknown starting to really get to him. The scent that he’d followed to this spot was heavy and unrelenting. Being blind, though, he couldn’t see whatever it was. It was the sound of movement that had pulled his thoughts away from the scent. Even though whoever it was that was approaching was trying to do so as quietly as possible (Two Face), Yildun heard every step clear as day, as if the other was stomping through the forest (even though he wasn’t). This was definitely a perk of not having sight.

His head turned in the direction the loud voice came from. Milky colored eyes stared, sightless, toward the male that was speaking. His ears slicked back against his head only because the other male seemed to be speaking so loudly. For the sightless young male with his sense of hearing intensified to make up for his lack of sight, it was almost as if the other male were right beside him and yelling into his ear. There was a small part of him that wanted to say something about the loudness, but he held his tongue because one thing Yildun was not and that was rude. He didn’t have even a single rude bone in his young body. His daddy had taught him well.

“I’m Yildun,” he answered, not bothering to include Dragonwatchers anywhere in his introduction since it was hopefully obvious that he was a part of the pack, being this far into the pack territory. Plus, he figured that it was probably no secret that a group of eight had come and joined the pack not that long ago, with him, the blind one, being part of that group.

I hope it's cool that I make a cameo! This will be my only post. :)

Like any Alpha—particularly any new, young Alpha concerned with proving herself—Koontz wondered if she'd made the best decision allowing a blind wolf to join her ranks. He had been part of a packaged deal and she had known that if she had turned him away, she would have lost out on the rest of the group as well. Her reasoning for accepting him wasn't purely self-serving, though; she genuinely wanted to give him a chance. More than anything, she really wanted to see, up close and personal, how a disabled wolf survived.

She also wanted to figure out a way to make him useful. As she walked along the borders presently, she wondered about what sort of duties a blind wolf could perform. Obviously, he could not hunt well, nor fight or guard. Yet in losing one sense, surely his others had sharpened, right? Was it a stretch to imagine that Yildun possessed unequaled hearing? Perhaps she could even take it one step further and assume that he was a good listener. If he was—and if he had the right personality for it—she imagined that the blind Sigma might be a great candidate for the Dreamserpent duties.

Of course, she would have to consult with him, get a feel for his personality and his interests. Koontz did want to speak to him—to all of her new recruits—one-on-one. With Yildun, however, she felt hesitant. She wanted to talk about his disability frankly but without offending him. The young Alpha wanted to turn his handicap into a strength that could serve her pack without offending him. She wasn't sure how to approach him about it just yet, so she held back.

When she heard voices in the distance and realized who the two wolves were—Yildun himself and Two Face—Koontz considered showing herself and speaking with them. The hoary yearling stood out of view, listening. Ultimately, she decided not to interrupt their conversation. As much as she wanted to speak with Yildun, she needed to give her pack mates the opportunity to get to know one another and form bonds too. And she still needed time to think about how to speak with him candidly but diplomatically. She wasn't prepared yet, so she moved on in silence, passing by like nothing more than a silvery shadow.

I just hope I can keep you entertained with my writing :-)

Two Face

”Yildun, That’s an interesting name. I like your spots and your eyes are really ….. white” The minute he finished his introduction Two Face felt the worry ebb from his body and return to the raging river of insecurities he kept dammed up in his brain. Two face hadn’t met many wolves with features like Yildun the gray dots that covered various parts of his body were unique, but the thing that stood out were his eyes. Yildun’s eyes were unlike anything Two Face had ever seen before. A wolf with eyes like his had to be very important, and there was something about his stare it was like Yildun wasn’t seeing Two Face even though they were staring right at each other.

Two Face was a bit unnerved by Yildun’s stare but he wouldn’t allow the way someone looked to factor in to his opinion of them. Especially not when that someone was the second wolf he had made contact with in his pack. Staring in the direction Yildun had been yelling at Two Face Furrowed his brow in confusion. ” Hey Yildun, what were you yelling at?” Two face looked back at Yildun’s snowy eyes ”and what’s that smell?” Walking closer Two Face tried to see what Yildun was talking to before being interupted.

Yildun inwardly groaned, but no outward sound was made, at the mention of his eyes being white. He knew that this was something he was going to end up running into and dealing with since none of the wolves in this pack that they joined had known him before coming here (except the group he came here with). They didn’t know he was blind and knew that this was something he was going to have to explain, as well as explain (and prove) that he was not entirely useless because of his blindness. Part of him was suddenly feeling homesick in that moment.

Super sensitive hearing picked up the sound of someone else moving and gave a slight flick of an ear. But the sound of movement didn’t continue nearing. He did recognize her scent, though, but did not call out to her. He wasn’t even sure if she was aware of him being there, as well as the other male. Sometimes having hearing far better than most wasn’t a blessing like some would think. Sometimes it was far more of a hindrance than anything else. He lived with it, though, because it wasn’t like he had any choice in the matter. Not having sight, his body made up for it in other ways; superior hearing.

His attention finally fully returned to the male; Two Face. His eyes didn’t shift around as they would had he been able to see. “I don’t know,” he answered the first question asked of him. “I thought I heard something or someone, but I’m not sure.” This was one of those times that he did wish that he could see because surely it would make this all easier. “The smell is coming from just over here,” he answered, motioning a little ways in front of him with his muzzle. “But I can’t see what it is…” A soft sigh slipped from the young male. “My eyes are the color they are because I am blind…”

I’m still not sure if you want to discover what the smell was yourself or what so I have avoided the subject.

Two Face

Two Face’s eyes widened when Yildun said he was blind. Having never met a blind wolf before Two Face didn’t know if there were any special formalities that he should follow, and judging by the sigh Yildun let escape his lips he was sensitive when it came to his eyes. This was the second pack wolf he had encountered and he didn’t want to hurt the soft spoken guy’s feelings by doing anything wrong. He had learned a long time ago that when you didn’t know what to do then do what felt right, and treating Yildun like he treated everybody felt very right to Two Face.

“Wow, I’ve never met a blind wolf before. Does that mean that you can smell better and hear further than other wolves?” Two Face couldn’t help but wonder how much further Yildun was able to hear and smell than a regular everyday wolf. Perhaps he would be an awesome border guard able to smell and hear wolves approaching the territory before they got anywhere near the borders. That would give the pack more than enough time to set up a proper party for any sudden visitors. The thought of Yildun’s sigh when mention of his blindness came up shook any other musings of testing the limits of Yildun’s senses from Two Face’s mind.

“Hey, you know what you don’t need to answer that it was just a stupid question. I’ve been told by others I was born without the ability to control what I say.” Two Face stepped around Yildun and took a look at the smelly thing that had led the silver wolf to this spot to be harassed by the likes of Two Face. “You know your senses are really amazing I didn’t smell anything at all. The only reason I came this way was because I saw an Interesting wolf yelling at nothing, and like always my curiosity got the better of me.” With an excited gleam in his eye Two Face Turned to Yildun “ So Yildun,, would you like me to describe what marvelous thing left you distracted long enough to allow me to sneak up and overwhelm you with my back woods bumpkin wolf style of social etiquette.”

The question that came from the other male did not surprise Yildun in the least. He actually had expected the question after having divulged that he was blind. The young male would have thought something wrong if Two Face didn’t ask any questions after learning that Yildun was blind. “My hearing does surpass the hearing of those of you who have your vision,” he answered, giving a slight nod of his head along with his answer. “My sense of smell is better, too, but not as much as my hearing.”

The sightless young male gave a slight shrug of his shoulders and a faint shake of his head. “It’s alright,” he began to respond. “I don’t mind answering your question. It’s to be expected, really. Blind wolves aren’t an everyday thing you come across, after all. I would have to think something was wrong if you didn’t have questions. So I really don’t mind answering them.” He was used to being asked questions by those that didn’t know him. It was something he learned to accept a long time ago. It was just something that came with being blind, after all.

His attention shifted back to the smell that had drawn him to this spot in the first place. Lowering his head toward whatever it was, he sniffed at it. It was unlike anything else he’d ever smelled before. What he was unable to see was that it was like a rock, a blackened rock, most likely a piece of something that had come from the sky (“falling star” type of thing). It smelled like something burnt, though Yildun had never smelled burning things before. “Yes, please,” he answered. “I would appreciate that.”

I hope i did a good job describing the meteor

Two Face

Furrowing his brow Two Face walked toward the object that had captured Yildun’s attention. He took a long time examining the curiosity before his eyes; with Yildun unable to see Two Face didn’t know where to start with a description. How would the snowy wolf know what anything he would use to describe the object looked like? Two Face may not have known where to start, but he wanted to help out his pack mate. He would hate to see Yildun’s spirit of adventure dwindle away like a flame in the wind just because he was unable to experience every aspect of his explorations.

” I’m not very good with words, but it looks like a big black rock. It isn’t a normal kind of black though; it seems to absorb the light around it. There are little specks of shining light sprinkled all over the rock; I guess that’s where the light it absorbs is stored.” Two Face looked up from his examination of the rock wondering to himself if there was anything else about the scene he could describe to Yildun. His eyes searched the earth around the strange rock ”The earth around the rock is dented in the rock is nestled in the middle of this indentation. All the grass in the area seems to have been burned by something, not a single blade is still standing. As far as I can see all around this rock is nothing but scorched dead earth.” Two Face sat quietly hoping that he had done a good enough job he stared at yildun waiting for some kind of reply

why did it have to end

The sightless young male was absolutely silent with his ears pushed forward while he waited for Two Face to describe the strange thing that he’d been drawn here because of scent. He was eager to hear what it looked like since he already knew what it smelled like. Yildun was also curious to hear how the other male used his words to describe whatever it was. He would not only get to learn about the object, but he’d also get to learn about the patience level of the other male. Some were eager to fully describe and explain something to the blind male, but some would rush it, using as few words as they could. In the end, Yildun would gladly return to those who took the time to fully describe or explain something to him as opposed to those that rushed through it because those beings clearly had no patience for the sightless male.

Yildun gave a slight nod to show that he understood. It was alright that the other male wasn’t good with words. That he took the time to acknowledge that spoke volumes to Yildun. Giving another nod, he silently encouraged the other male to give it his best shot. As Two Face began his description of the thing, Yildun’s facial expression began to slowly change. As the description continued, Yildun drew nearer. He could feel the scorched earth beneath his paws but that went basically ignored. He was far more interested in the black rock that absorbed the light around it. He wasn’t sure if he should be feeling excited about the black rock, or really, really sad. From the description, it was much more than just a big black rock.

“A fallen star,” he whispered, a touch of sadness in his voice. He lifted a front paw and reached it out toward the rock but didn’t touch it because he could still feel a little heat coming off of it. This was something that he would keep close tabs on, waiting for it to no longer have heat coming from it, and then would move it to where he could guard it, protect it, and keep it for as long as he was able to. “Thank you,” he acknowledged to the other male. “For describing it to me. I appreciate it very much. You did very good with your description.”

Two Face

Two Face didn’t realize it but he had started holding his breath as soon as Yildun mentioned a falling star. His mouth was open wide enough to admit as many flies entrance as the world would permit. Hardly registering any words after the mention of an actual star falling to earth, Two Face almost missed Yildun thanking him. ”You’re welcome” Two Face managed to whisper. He took his eyes off Yildun long enough to glance at the fallen star. Something this special definitely needed to be secured; Two Face turned back to his blind pack mate, and tried to erase the awe struck expression from his face. “Yildun, stars don’t just fall from the sky every day. If you are sure that’s what we have, we need to protect it … we probably need to tell Koontz.”

Two Face felt himself getting excited about this fallen star, he knew it was Yildun’s find and of course he would have all the credit, but just being around such a huge occurrence was almost too much for the little wolf to handle. He looked to Yildun who seemed unaffected by the fact that there was a star in front of them. Perhaps the white wolf was used to such strange occurrences, and if that was the case Then Two Face would leave the decision making up to him. ”That’s unless you have any other ideas on what to do.”

The sightless young male couldn’t help but feel protective of his find, purely because of his connection to the stars in general. It was something ingrained in him from the moment he had been born. The stars were as much a part of him as breathing. So when Two Face began speaking of protecting it and telling Koontz, the silvery male moved to stand protectively over it. “Sometimes they do fall from the sky,” he replied, feeling the warmth from the rock on the underside of his belly but it wasn’t so warm that it was uncomfortable. “Stories I’d been told as I was growing up spoke of the occasional star being cast from the sky because the soul that was sent to that star was found to be unworthy of being a star.” He knew how the story would likely sound to someone that hadn’t been raised following the stars, but it was what it was.

He found himself wondering what soul had been found unworthy of being a star and hoped that it wasn’t either of his parents. Yildun wasted no time in shoving that thought from his mind because if anyone was worthy of being a star it was his parents. They had been the most kind and caring souls that he had ever known. There was still a matter of what he wanted to do with the rock, though. “I want to stay with it while it is still putting off so much warmth,” he finally began. “Once it’s cool enough to move, I want to get it to my den where it’ll be safe.” He couldn’t help but want to keep the rock, to take it to his den. Maybe, just maybe, this fallen star could possibly help him reconnect with the stars, to be able to hear them again. The stars were as much a part of him as breathing.

just curious if you wanted to keep going im cool with that, or did you wanna just do one more round of posting?

Two Face

Two Face was surprised when the soft spoken Yildun moved to protect the fallen star, but that didn’t stop him from hearing the white wolf out. From the way Yildun spoke it seemed he had more knowledge than Two Face about these sorts of things. He may be young and he may be clumsy, but one thing Two Face never considered himself was stupid, and in his opinion it would be the height of stupidity to take the star from someone who at least had a little knowledge about these things. ” It’s ok Yildun, no need to look so nervous it was just an idea.”

Two Face moved away from the star trying to make his steps as heavy as possible so Yildun could hear what he was doing. ”You found the star, I have no problem keeping it quiet as long as it isn’t going to cause any one to get hurt.” Two Face cocked his head to one side as he examined Yildun. The white wolf didn’t look the same as he did when Two Face first approached him, it was as if the mention of a fallen star had reignited something within Yildun, and Two Face felt that his pack mate could probably use some kind of fire.

”I’m sure you could use some help moving the star after it’s cooled, or I could at least act as look out, so no one comes nosing by wondering what you are pushing.” Two Face sat down and stared at the star between Yildun’s legs ”Maybe while we wait you could tell me more about stars, and how you know so much about them.” Two Face looked in to Yildun’s cloudy eyes and smiled trying to inject as much happiness in to his tone as possible ”if you want to that is.”

His moving to stand protectively over the fallen star had been an automatic thing. Yildun couldn’t help but want to protect it, to take it to his den, to keep it safe for all time. His ears were pushed forward as he listened to Two Face not only speak but move back a few steps as well. “It won’t hurt anyone, I can assure you of that,” he replied. No, it definitely wouldn’t hurt anyone. It didn’t even have to be kept a secret, but he sure as heck wasn’t going to let anyone take it away from him, that was certain.

Yildun was silent while he listened to Two Face’s offer to help him get the fallen star to wherever Yildun wanted to take it. Though there was still a little bit of warmth coming from the rock, it wasn’t nearly as much as it had been. “I could use some help, yes,” he replied, giving a nod of his head as he stepped from over top of the cooling rock. “I have a private den that’s hidden because I like having privacy now and then. I’d like to take it there.” Yildun lifted his head fully with his ears pushed forward to listen around them. He didn’t hear anything and that put him further at ease.

“We should be able to move it now, if you’re okay with that. It’s still a little warm to the touch but not nearly as much as it had been so it shouldn’t hurt to move it. I’ll gladly tell you what I know about the stars, and how I know so much about the stars, after we get this to my den, if that’s okay with you?”

OOC: sorry it took so long to reply i need Ebony to show me how to use my new table ... LOL im clueless when it comes to coding

Seeing Yildun relax made Two Face feel good. He hadn't had very much interaction with other pack mates, and Yildun seemed to have really opened up since the conversation started. Two Face walked toward the star and Yildun, he listened as the white wolf spoke about a hidden den that he had close by."Alright! That's fine by me, I don't smell any one else near by so we should probably hurry. I can't wait to hear more about stars!"

He stopped in front of Yildun and stared at the treasure from the sky. Two Face was hesitant to touch the fallen star, he was afraid that handling it incorrectly might cause some curse to be placed upon him. Two Face looked at Yildun, his face didn't show any of the doubts Two Face was having. Yildun said he had been immersed in stories about stars since he was young, so it made sense he wouldn't be wary of the star. More and more Two Face felt that leaving the treasure in Yildun's capable paw's was for the best."What do you say I let you do the carrying?" Two Face turned and walked away from the star and Yildun. With every step he took away Two Face felt the unease disperse from his body."I'll take point, and if I run in to any one I'll distract them so you and the star can go by unnoticed."

Two Face ran off as quickly as his feet would carry him. He played through scenarios in his mind, rehearsing what he would do if he ran in to any one. After only a few moments Two Face skidded to a stop kicking up a cloud of dust in the process. Panic spread over his features as a shocking realization blossomed in Two Face's mind. He turned and ran back to where the star was kicking himself for his stupidity, he arrived at the location and found Yildun still standing with the fallen star. Two Face stopped in front of Yildun and the star, the panic replaced by an embarrassed expression Two Face stared at Yildun as he allowed himself a minute to catch his breath. He tried to hide the embarrassment from his tone as he spoke, but Two Face was never very good at masking his emotions. "Which way is the den again?"

He liked the enthusiasm from the other male in regards to getting to hear more about the stars. It was an absolute passion of Yildun’s, though he was still terribly disappointed that he hadn’t been able to hear the stars since his father’s death. It was painful, really, because that meant two parts of his entire world had been ripped away from him and turned upside down. The sightless young male nodded in agreement to Two Face’s suggestion. Before he could say anything, though, the other male suddenly dashed away. Yildun knew he’d be back since he hadn’t disclosed to Two Face just where his hidden den was located.

Just as he figured, Two Face returned. He could hear the embarrassment in the voice of the other male but Yildun was not mean soul and ignored it, not wanting to embarrass the other male any further than he’d already embarrassed himself. “I’ll show you,” he answered before lowering his head and carefully picking up the rock. It felt weird in his mouth, against his tongue. Once he was sure he wasn’t going to drop it, he headed off in the direction of where his hidden den was located. It wasn’t very far from where they were, thankfully.

After just a few minutes of traveling, Yildun came to a halt. Instead of setting down the rock where he was standing, he lowered his head and seemingly vanished into the brush he was standing in front of. He’d entered his hidden den. Once inside, he moved to the far back, which is where he deposited the fallen star. Turning away from it, he appeared back outside, coming out of the brush he’d vanished into. “Thank you,” he addressed the other male.
