@Leon
This was where the mountains began.
Rainier picks his way across the rocky terrain with caution as one slip could mean a sprained ankle, or worse. He was lucky, as living within Swiftcurrent Creek gave him access to the lake from where the creek itself poured into the crystalline lake instead of having to find his way down from the cliffs. Though he was covered in the scent of freshwater, he could still smell it on the air; the unmistakable scent that could only be described as "lake".
He arrives at the shore, and immediately begins to sniff around the fringes for any unfamiliar scents. It wasn't that he was paranoid. Far from it. He was simply curious as to who, or what, else passed through recently. He soon comes across a long stretch of sand with the impression of hooves dotting the waterline.
Bounding over, Rainier lifts his tail high and waves it back and forth with delight. Neat!
