on the outskirts of imperium's heart is where isobel lurked. she'd stopped by the strath's river to rummage—winter still had its icy grip, but she was determined to dig through the snow and find any herbs hidden beneath its blanket. 

herbs, flowers...what she was truly after was poisonous flora, and perhaps some bones. for sacrificial purposes, or to bring as gifts to her reverend mother. she'd collected a mouthful already, and pranced along the frozen water's edge, keen eyes having spotted a carcass half-buried. 

a fox. succumbed to the elements, now laying in wait for isobel to make use of it's bones and hide. she hummed, pleased with her find, as she set aside the herbs and began to delicately shred its hide from flesh.

thantos kept to the tree line. watched her work. isobel, with her clever paws and her serpent's grace, peeling flesh from bone like a priestess at some dark altar.

he ranged forward—he had no wish to slink like some skulking thing. snow compacted underfoot, crunching in the hush of winter’s grip.
