Humiliated, he had left the spear.
How long had it been now? Over a month, maybe two. It was hard for him to be sure.
Hokulani was long gone, and he had not a clue where she had ran to. He hoped to erase her from his mind, he hoped that she would not make good on her promise.
Walking east along the shores of the bay he had to question where he was to go next. He hated to be alone, but he was unsure of where he could. Certainly he could not go back to Moonspear; he was far too ashamed of himself.
For now he would supposed he would remain on the coast. It was not exactly Kai Ahi, his island home, but it was better than nothing. Maybe it would surprise him.

Having only recently reached her second year, Odessia had decided to strike out on her own, away from the grip of her parents and family. It was not that she did not like them—quite the opposite—but more that she was ready to see the world on her own. Every bird must eventually fly the nest, and now was her time. She was young, healthy, and while thoughts of legacy did occasionally cross her mind, that was not her main priority. For now, she simply wished to explore and set her eyes on the various packs that made their home in this region.
Winter was winding down, and though the sun was out in full force, there remained a chill in the air. Odessia picked up on the trail of another wolf and, being the curious one she was, began to track it to its source. It was not long before she set icy blue eyes on the war-torn male who jogged on up ahead of her. Not wanting to startle him, she let out a greeting "woof!" from a distance, allowing him to decide whether or not he wished to interact.

A light greeting reaching his ears, his head turned to spot the source. A woman, a girl in his eyes, who looked about the age of his own children. She seemed safe enough, so he stopped to allow her to approach.
His tail flicking upwards, he decided to propose a simple question.

Are you from a surrounding territory? He asked. From the scents in the air he could tell that the coast had a pack or two settled, and likely a few loners or smaller groups as well. This could be one of them; but then again, if he was imposing on her territory he imagined that she would be a bit more outwardly aggressive.

Odessia shook her head, taking in the man's appearance more fully. He was oddly marked, nothing like the friends and family she knew back home. His coloration was nothing she had ever seen before, either. Idly, she wondered if he had some kind of disease. Or perhaps it had something to do with his various scars. Was it contagious?
"Why do you look like that?" she asked. "Are you sick?"

That was quite forward. A fair concern, however he was not completely sure of what about him made her think he may be ill.
No, I am not sick.He responded, straight forward and blunt.
What about me would make you think that?He raises an eyebrow, rather curious. He thought he looked rather regular; though a bit scarred.

"Your eyes look sunken in. And your fur is an odd color," she replied, her icy blue eyes squinting at him.
In all her life, she had never seen anything like it. She still was not sure that it was healthy to look that way. Maybe it was simply bad parentage that had him looking like that. Or maybe he was not a true wolf, at least not in the way she was accustomed to. The thought had her second-guessing her own nose. Maybe this wolf was merely on the trail of the real wolf. Odessia took in a deep breath, trying to assess whether or not he was the source of the scent trail.

I'm old and from a far different region. That was the simple explanation.
Why do you look the way you do? Maybe you're the ill one.The theory he proposed was intended to tease more than anything else. If she thought he was strange looking, she would surely be shocked half to death upon meeting the wolves with far more intricate coats who Hakumele often spotted.
She was young. He understood that life was a learning experience.

Odessia wrinkled her nose at the accusation, displeased by his retort. She had seen plenty of elders, and they looked nothing like him. Now she was certain he was hiding something, covering something up that he did not want to reveal to a stranger. That, she decided, was enough for her to break ties right here and now.
"I can assure you I am not. Good day," she said, turning around with a huff. Odessia kept her ears turned backward, listening for any signs that he might be attempting to follow her. She would be ready to make a run for it if she needed to.
