Wolves were flocking to Duskvale. Saena couldn't be more pleased. With each additional body, they ensured their pack's survival through the winter. There was little to no doubt in her mind that they would prosper come the warm months, and even if every warm body left, there would still be her and Warbone to carry Duskvale forward. But with the attention the pack was getting and the addition of more and more wolves who heard the wild call of instinct and stepped into the vale, there were simply no worries left.
Saena's injuries were healing nicely now that the worst was over. She was pleased that several of the smaller wounds were already disappearing back into her thick winter fur, and she felt some of her old spryness as she padded among the lazing wolves of the vale. They'd recently taken down a small mule deer and were in post-meal lounge. Saena ought to have been laying around with the rest of them, but she was feeling energetic now that her limp was nearly gone, and sought out the leading male instead.
They had their differences and a mild distance had grown between them thanks to Saena's inability to accept his very justified reprimands, but she had forgiven him and was feeling decidedly less on edge now. No doubt it was her good spirits. She rounded a thick tree, spotted @Warbone, and approached confidently in spite of the submissive droop of her ears and snout. She was careful to keep on his good side; good spirits or not, she wasn't in the mood for an unfriendly response. Her pace hardly slowed as she reached out in a playful effort to bop him on the back of the neck with her chin.

With his belly swollen beyond normal capacity, Warbone had detached himself from the group so that he might digest in peace (maybe do some purging) and ponder the consequences of his gluttonous actions. He couldn't remember a time he'd been so comfortable with gorging himself. It had always been pertinent that he stay in that sweet spot of being full enough to keep going, and empty enough to not be hindered in his progress; but there was no worry in him these days. The only time he felt anxiety was when Saena left the group, and as she recovered from her last expedition, he found that to be a non-issue on his conscience for the time being.
He half-burrowed into a lump of snow, hoping the freezing powder against his sides would quell the taut stretching of his body, and he was beginning to doze when he noticed something pale emerging in his diminished peripheral. The wolf picked up his head, watching her jaunty approach in a strange mix of amused annoyance. He certainly didn't have the energy to match hers, and he made a groaning sort of whine as she made her playful intentions quite clear.
She was making him feel his age, which he didn't appreciate, but it had also been several days since she had openly shown him anything but reserved wariness, so he was not inclined to chase her off so soon. Instead he rolled further onto his side with a grunt, so that he might push her away with a broad paw in a lazy attempt to return her advance, and also encourage her to leave.

if sins were etched into the surface of bones,
i’d need another skeleton to record all my wrongs
i’d need another skeleton to record all my wrongs

As quickly as she contacted him, she bounded a foot away, then swung around with a jovial grin at the same moment Warbone fell further to the side. A broad paw pushed into her shoulder and unbalanced her slightly, but with a playful snap at his toes, the first female regained her balance and snorted lightly at him. How rude!
In fact, Warbone was acting a little disinterested compared to his former disposition, and that left her feeling a smidge indignant, but playfully so. There was something about her that was just giddy lately, and having chosen to heap her attention on Warbone, she wasn't deterred by his lackadaisical mood. She had every intention of badgering him until he played with her or otherwise entertained her. With a chuff, she jabbed her snout toward his paw and aimed to (very gently) chew on it.
