the mountain was a black obelisk set against the grey oblivion of an oncoming night. from its base, where snow met shadow and the wind howled through the shallow foothills, the void-thing lurched.
the sound of its ragged breathing cut through the intermittent stillness; the wind did groan time and again, and the beast pushed against it with its hulking meat suit, seeking the shelter afforded by the obscuring deep dark of the trees.
as night set in, so too did the shade. soon he was a pair of malevolent eyes roaming in the blackness, watching, hunting, and hungry.

This mountain that they had come across seemed like the ideal location for the small yet ever-expanding group. The panther was gaining an arrogant surge of satisfaction that her attempts at finally building a domain of darkness were becoming a reality. The whispers of her deceased father in her head urged her on, and the terrified gaze of her brother was an image permanentally melted into her mind. A sickening, malicious grin spread across her feminine features as she pondered where her petty littermate had skittered off to, his weak lover by his side. Ah, she'd caused them plenty of stress for sure. Her subtle attacks on Ganador Bypass were a pleasing set of memories, though the rememberence of the wolf flesh when she had first tasted it upon her tongue was her favoured recollection. Now the taste of her own species was far more tempting that that of elk or deer, and she often feasted upon a still corpse.
Her paws had no particular location in mind when she began to wander, though she savoured the night in which she belonged. When the darkness fell and the moon rose in the inky sky, it was her time to stalk the shadows. And that she did, feeling the wind push against her body and ruffle her coat of sleek black fur, sharp violent eyes peering into the land that she was beginning to consider her own.
Perhaps she might soon encounter another who patrolled the night.
