All Welcome
It was weird to go from having a job to not, and Fern wasn't adjusting very well. Every so often she'd mutter something under her breath or look around as if she was talking to someone, only to find that there was an empty space, which would lead to some grumbling. The trail of her sister had gone cold already — and it didn't help that these wilds were filled to the brim with so many other wolf scents — so more often than not, Fern was following the wrong trail despite her expertise.

She rested for a few hours that night at Lake Rodney, but couldn't really sleep. She was antsy and eager to get a move on but had no goal, and it wasn't like Fern to be directionless. She did not enjoy the limitless feeling that it presented to her. No, Fern was a beast who liked to accomplish tasks. After a few hours of trying to get some shut-eye she gave up entirely and began scouting westward, and by the time the sky lightened in to morning she was climbing along the lower reaches of a mountain range.

Maybe if she got to the top she'd find some kind of purpose.
