There were babes in the wood. Their newness brought a light to each wolf that lived among the trees, and it was quite a sight to see all of these strangers working together to ensure their survival. Parvati wished to do her part as well. She had spent most of the morning scouring the terrain for new plants to study and had inadvertently found herself trailing a stoat instead.

The task of rooting it out and poaching it left Parvati winded and tense, but she managed well enough. Her first thought was to take a portion of the elongated creature and offer it at the altar - pay homage to the resident deities - then take the rest to the new mother's den.

She managed to make it partway when she felt a twinge of feeling in her belly, so Parvati paused and placed the stoat upon the grass while she tended to herself. She moseyed a few feet away and tried to urinate against a tree but that didn't amount to anything, so that wasn't the reason for the odd feeling. Next she began to preen the grasses; catching strands between her molars and crunching, pulling, chewing a cud and swallowing with the hope they would settle whatever upset her. That did little to remedy what ailed her; so she returned to the discarded stoat and tried to think of another solution.

Parvati wished she had more knowledge to guide her. All she had was a sense of ache to her body - which she attributed to her crawling about in the dirt these past weeks - and a cramping to her belly that felt strange and tense. She tried to think back to the women of her first home and what they might suggest, but when she drew a blank she sighed and sat down in frustration. Was she sick? If so, was it safe to deliver this morsel of food to the new mother and her babes? Parvati did not wish anyone ill and was not about to spread whatever she was experiencing through the tiny family. But what was she to do?
