There was a point in his travels, and he’d hadn’t known when he’d hit it, but suddenly he’d entered the ‘hot’ zone. It felt like every direction he ventured the smell of piss burned his nose and turned him the other way. He wasn’t purposefully trying to step on the toes of the locals, and poke his head where it didn’t belong, but that became increasingly difficult. He had tried East, but nope, wolves prowled dominantly in that area so he went South only to be hit again. So he navigated, with a bit of weaseling, Northwest to steer himself clear.
Wolf trails were not unwelcome to the vagabond, but they were unpredictable. They tapered off towards the mountains, but that was a lot of effort to climb those slopes. All that energy, with no clear exchange for a good payoff? Bee would pass on the challenge, edging along the wilds until he distant smell of the coast sparked on the breeze. It caused him to second guess his direction, only because it eventually meant one thing—a dead end.
He wavered there at the horizon of a clean field, that appeared barren at his first impression. A small jolt of frustration slapped his rump into the dirt, unsure of what to make of his next move.
When in doubt, he could always just try to find something to eat.
