Whatever plans she had made with Stark before, of wandering and helping to find those that were lost, seemed to have been waylayed by the recent loss the pack had suffered. Pepper hadn't known Tavi, but she saw the effect it had on Stark - and subsequently Banner and the others - and it pained her more to think of leaving them for any reason. They needed all hands on deck; Stark needed her, specifically. So she lingered, doing odd jobs in order to make everything easier on everyone, but Pepper was unfocused. She wasn't a hunter, so most of the small game she chased ended up escaping - that was a bust. She wasn't good with kids (in her opinion) and being around all the younger wolves in this pack was putting her further on edge. In the end, she watched the borders. Pepper patrolled and frequented the fringes of the territory, wondering (guiltily) if she really should be here at all.
