Phiipa had been hanging around the borders patiently. She wanted to be in the pack already, but rushing things wasn't very polite. She was patient, but it was wearing thin. The famine seemed to be coming to a close, but hunting was still hard out here all alone. She wished to get better at it, but that could take some time. Instead she sung to herself and she preened her clean golden fur. She liked to make up stories and tunes in her head, and was always humming. She had a beautiful voice as well. She switched from singing the word to humming rapidly. Enjoying a little Ipa time.

Pausing to look around, Ipa took in a quick breeze. If ruffled her fur, but felt amazing. She licked down the now messy patches then sighed. She went back to her song, smiling as she enjoyed the lovely sunny day.

Spring found herself rather enjoying the sun today, as it just felt lovely as it warmed her pelt.  The Alpha had been patroling her grounds, near the edges of the border, all the while also looking for any possible new recruits, when suddenly an unidentified golden furred female caught her eyes.  So slowly yet dominantly Spring began to pick her way towards the female.

"Hello."  Spring greeted the wolf once she was a couple feet away.  "Are you looking to join Silver Creek?"  Spring then asked, to do a quick check that this was a possible new recruit and not an intruder, all the while checing for any signs of infractions that the wolf could make.

Phiipa looked up quickly when a voice sounded near her. It was friendly tone, which settled the golden girl's nerves. She nodded with a friendly smile, standing and walking towards the female. The way the other held herself made Phiipa assume she was the alpha. She bowed her head to Spring submissively, not wanting to seem rude in the least. Yes I am. My name is Phiipa Derian. I've met your beta Laika and her mate Casmir already. This seems a lovely pack. She said respectfully hoping the alpha would approve of her. She desperately wanted to join this pack, it just seemed a perfect fit for her. But she would accept it if they declined her. She wasn't like her sister, she had little will power. She had a hard time standing up for herself. She would accept whatever verdict she was given.

Hope you don't mind me hopping in! :)

Shreya pointedly avoided howls from the borders, being an old wolf with no real authority or (to be honest) will to interview joiners, but she was extremely close to where this howl came from. So she plodded towards it only to find Spring already on the scene. She was a quick one, that Alpha.

Body submissively low as she came to Spring's side, she eyed the joiner and then said to her friend — enough pretty girls already. You should deny her, Shreya added as a whisper. But it was very clear she was joking; her mischievous smile was evident, her tail wagging.

Phiipa Derian.  That was the name of this wolf.  She was more than glad to hear that Phiipa had already met both Casmir and Laika, seeming to have both of their approvals since she was still here.  Spring was also glad to see the submissiveness to her, from Phiipa.  That was a very good sign.  "Well it is a pleasure to meet you Phiipa.  I hope that you are liking Silver Creek so far."  Spring told the golden female in a solemn tone, looking her over.

Then Shreya came to crack a joke.

Spring was happy to see Shreya when she came and when Shreya began to speak to her Spring thought at first that Shreya was telling the truth and froze surprised, but then she noticed Shreya's mischevious smile and tail wag, realizing that Shreya had only been joking.  So Spring quickly unfroze, like ice to water on a sunny day.  The Alpha's tail gave a little wag and she gave Shreya a little playful, teasing nudge.  "Sure, sure."  Spring whispered back in a light and teasing tone to Shreya.  When suddenly she noticed that Phiipa was still here.  Spring quickly shifted from playful and teasing, back to much more serious and formal, although a warm light shone in her eyes.  "What has interested you in Silver Creek Phiipa?"  Spring asked the golden female, curious as to what had caught Phiipa's eye.

The alpha seemed more stoic than the beta, but she was polite. Ipa liked politeness. Overall this pack reminded her much of Derian Rise, but with less tradition and less formality. And pleasure to meet you as well. Just then another scent entered her nose, and she turned to see another. Phiipa was surprised, but glad to have the company. The new female was older than most she'd met, but didn't look unhealthy. Ipa didn't hear what Shreya had said, so instead she waited and allowed the two to catch up. Spring lost her serious look and tone, but for only a second. This was comforting to see, knowing that the alpha wasn't all formal and solemn.

When I first arrived I wasn't sure what to expect. I met Laika first, she was so kind and open, I found that I could fit in. So I stayed by the borders. From what I have learned from your beta, this pack is very friendly and you are a family, no? She said, getting a little more formal. Then she relished she hadn't greeted the older wolf. Immediately feeling bad, and embarrassed she turned to Shreya and gave her a respectful ladylike nod. Forgive me, my name is Phiipa Derian. An honor to meet you. She offered to Shreya, hoping it wasn't too late for pleasantries. She loved those, pleasantries. They made everything flow.

Shreya hadn't thought for a moment that Spring would glower at the joke. And besides, like many old folks, she was content to get away with most things: making inappropriate jokes was one of those things.

She smiled blithely at the pair and took a seat a short distance from them. She had decided to watch, having never seen a joining interview at Silver Creek (or even the Maplewood, bar her own) before. Spring hadn't sent her away, so she assumed this was fine and dandy.

Shreya, she replied courteously to the too-pretty Phiipa. An amiable girl indeed. She had a feeling this would go well.

Phiipa seemed respectable enough.  She was glad to hear that Phiipa had Laika's approval from what the possible new recruit claimed.  She was also happy to hear Laika being respected by this golden female for being kind and open as Laika was.  No one could ask for a better friend.  Then as Phiipa continued to speak Spring respected what she said.  Then Phiipa and Shreya exchanged names.  Everything was going well and Spring had a feeling that this wolf would be in her ranks soon.

Spring stayed quiet for a few moments before she began to speak.  "Our goal is to be a close knitted family pack, where everyone feels welcome."  Spring began choosing her words carefully and wisely.  "Silver Creek strives for acceptance of everyone who proves themself and I could not think of a better place to call home."  Spring finished, flashing Phiipa a small smile.

Nice to meet you Shreya. Ipa said with a smile before turning back to the alpha. Spring began to speak, confirming what Phiipa had thought. This pack was about family, care, and acceptance. She loved it so far! The territory was beautiful, the wolves were so kind, and the philosophy was right up her alley. Phiipa kneaded her paws content my against the ground, she was having a great day so far. This pack reminds me much of my home. It has been exactly what you have said so far. Welcoming, and accepting. You must be doing a good job. She said, appreciating that Spring had lightened up a bit more.

In a famine-stricken country of sceptical packs that acknowledged prospects by tooth and claw, Silver Creek was certainly as refreshing as its waters. Be nice and you're in wouldn't work for everyone of course, but for now, in Shreya's experience, Tuktu Hinterlands was a vast hideaway, far from other packs. They could afford to prioritise good nature above all else.

So Shreya listened and learned, and watched as Spring warmed to the newcomer.

Spring was glad to hear that Silver Creek reminded her of her home, that it was welcoming a accepting and then that Spring herself was doing a good job.  A proud smile alight her features for a few moments.  "I am more than glad to hear that, thank you."  Spring told Phiipa grattified and proudly.  Spring then got ready to launch some more question at Phiipa.

"So tell me Phiipa, I can tell that you like it here in Silver Creek from what you have said, but how can you provide for us or help us I suppose?  In another way of asking what are you good at or what trades are you looking into?"  Spring asked the golden female, curious to hear her answer.

Phiipa smiled at Spring, who appreciated Phiipa's compliment. The young golden female liked it when she made others happy. She loved to please, not because it made her look good, but because it made her feel good. She liked being able to know that she had done something helpful, that she was good. So even a little gratitude like what Spring had said made her feel happy.

But then they were back to questions. What could she do, what trades and all that. Well I'm hoping to be a chronicler and a caregiver. I am great with pups and would love to look after yours. Laika told me you have some. The last part was sort of a question and a confirmation at the same time. As for what else I can do, well to be honest I'm rubbish at fighting. But I'm a good hunter and will do my best to provide for your pack. I am loyal, and will never betray you as my family. She finished. Though she had spat all over her fighting skill, which may have hurt her case, she always thought honesty was a good thing.

At Spring's friendly bidding, Pretty Phiipa launched on series of assets, each as valuable as the next, though she did not hesitate to speak her flaw — fighting, apparently.

To Shreya, the thought of a caring, loyal chronicler was appealing, though the pups had more than enough caregivers as it was. They're less pups and more... living tornadoes, their great grandmother chipped in brightly.

Spring was delighted to hear that Phiipa wanted to be a caregiver as Spring herself was and a chronicler which would be especially great for the pups if Phiipa was good at storytelling.  The fact that Phiipa was bad at fighting though dissapointed the Alpha, although you could always learn so Spring decided to not hold that against the golden female.  Phiipa was doing good so far in the presence of Spring.  The Alpha approved.

When Shreya cracked the joke about the pups being living tornadoes  Spring laughed a little.  "Very true Shreya.  Very true."  Spring replied now with a smile.  Then her gaze focused on Phiipa.  "It is to bad that you are no good at fighting, but I am sure that you can learn someday with pratice.  As for the trades you wish to pursue as caregiver and chronicler, I am happy to hear that you wish to pursue those trades, they are good ones indeed.  For caregiving if you wanted though I could help you learn.  Of course only if you join Silver Creek which I am sure you will."  Spring told and offered Phiipa.

Phiipa smiled at Shreya's comment. They must be a handful, but that only came as a challenge to Phiipa, not an issue. She loved challenges. Any sort of challenge she would try, she always did her best to find the solution. Spring though the comment was funny as well, but once again they went back to the topic at hand. She knew she shouldn't have said the thing about fighting, but she didn't want to lie. And Spring was right, she could definitely learn. When Spring finished, it took Ipa a moment to realize what she'd been offered. She replied with a polite nod and a smile.

I would love to learn from you, as well as join your pack. Thank you very much. She was very excited, but kept a calm and formal posture at the moment. Had she really found her new home? And such a great home it was.

Shreya sat quite contently and watched with interest as Phiipa was welcomed into the fold. This, she found, was an excellent example of Spring leading from the heart: though of course she valued other qualities too, some of which Phiipa possessed.

Well fancy that, Shreya said lightly, with a smile, when it was done. Good news.

Wanna wrap this up?   :)

Spring was glad to hear that Phiipa wanted to learn from her.  "I am very glad to hear that."  Spring replied.  "It was a pleasure to meet you Phiipa and I hope to soon have you among the ranks of Silver Creek."  Then with that Spring solemnly gave Phiipa a respectful nod in a form of her own goodbye, then turned to face Shreya.

"It was good to see you to see you too Shreya."  Spring told her elder and friend.  Then with a warm and hopeful gaze slidding on Phiipa for a few moments, Spring turned and made her way towards the heart of the creek.

Sure! I can archive unless Shreya wants another post.

Phiipa was more than happy to see that the alpha approved of her. Soon enough she could be a member of this pack. It was working out perfectly. The famine couldn't stop her, nothing would now. She had friends and hopefully a new family and home. It was a pleasure to meet you both. I can never express how gracious I am for your hospitality. Thank you. She gave one more polite nod before watching the silver creek female's leave. She was sad to be alone again, but knew it wouldn't be for long. So the young golden female trotted along the border, tail wagging cheerfully.

I may as well archive~ :) Thanks for having me!

Spring soon departed on business, and Shreya gave her a bow and a smile, then flashed Phiipa a wink before heading off to find the puppies. She was confident Phiipa would meet those little "tornadoes" soon enough.
