Rose had found she was rather fond of exploring outside, despite often spending most of her time within the confines of the den. While her two older siblings were by far more adventurous than her and often wandered outside with little issue, the russet girl still struggled in mustering up enough confidence to even poke her head outside the den. She saw no reason to go outside where she could die when it was perfectly safe inside. Besides her mother still often stayed inside the den and the girl loved nothing more than the warmth and food only her mom could provide.
Still, she did enjoy going out once she had gained the needed amount of courage to actually go out and wander. So the girl pushed herself from the protection of the den and set off to explore a bit farther than usual. Up until now she hadn't gone far enough that her mother couldn't hear her if she called, but today was different. Captivated by a vole that scampered across the ground, the fiery furred princess clumsily bounded after it, unaware of how far she was straying from her home.

It didn't seem that Hawthorn particularly liked to explore, given that the majority of the time, it appeared that he was snuggled next to his mother or his sister, fast asleep. The fact was, however, that the boy had quite an obsession with the outside world. He preferred to explore alone though, so he only ever attempted (and succeeded) to sneak out of the den and explore when everyone else was asleep, or was paying no attention to him. After all, the youngest in the litter didn't appear to be anything special, when in fact, he was the cleverest of the lot - or at least, he thought so.
Today, Hawthorn woke up and pulled himself upright, blinking rapidly as a fiery figure disappeared from the den entrance. He shrugged to himself. Truthfully, he couldn't care less if Tiger decided to leave. She wasn't exactly his favourite sibling. Then, he thought again. It might not have been his older annoying twin sister, it could be the quieter one which he cared for...to a certain extent. So, after a long moment of contemplation, the large boy padded after his sister.
He was quick, despite his relative clumsiness and size, and he found his sister in a matter of minutes. As soon as Hawthorn caught sight of her, he let out a loud woof combined with a whine, attempting to grasp her attention whilst bounding closer at the same time.

With her attention elsewhere, the russet girl remained oblivious to her brother that bounded after her. That was the case until she heard him call out to her in his bark, and not a moment later the russet girl was facing her younger brother. She had already long forgotten about the vole as her brother was much more interesting, especially considering how he didn't seem like the type to get out much. She walked towards him and aimed to give her brother a friendly nudge to the shoulder.
"Hawww" the girl squeaked out with all her might and took a step back at the sudden shock of being able to somewhat say what she intended. Usually her words came out in gibberish, but somehow she had managed to say a part of what she wanted. Haw, Ro, and T were about the only words she knew, with the exception of her own name and the word "no" which was usually directed towards her two older siblings. "Haww" she repeated again, this time followed by an abundant of giggles.

She heard his call and turned swiftly around to face him. At that, he offered her one of his rare toothy smiles that he reserved only for those he found tolerable and watched with wide, bright blue eyes as she walked towards him and nudged him on the shoulder. Hawthorn wagged his tail and reached out to lick his sister's cheek affectionately, if she allowed him to do so. "Ro-Rosieeeee," he said in reply when she spoke, and after a moment where he wallowed in self-pride and happiness at having achieved his goal of saying a full word, he offered Rose yet another grin. "Roseeee!"

Whatever this was, it was definitely fun for the tiny princess. She had discovered something on her own and once she had a taste of accomplishment all she wanted was more. "Roossee" she said copying her brother and laughing as she said her own name. She wondered if Tigerlily would have a different voice from her, and to a certain extent actually wished she would.
Rose loved her sister but they were unquestionably identical when it came to their appearance. The russet girl wanted something of her own for once, something that no one else could have, and she only prayed that her voice would be hers and hers alone.

His sister repeated her name, causing a small, gummy smile to spread across the boy's face. He wagged his tail furiously, face scrunched up before saying something else. "Playyy?" he asked, tilting his head slightly. "Playyy...Thorn?" he grinned again and after a moment of decision, attempted to pounce on her, not knowing that his larger size might end up crushing his sister. Here, Hawthorn was still young, and as far as he was concerned, he wasn't doing anything wrong. He wanted to play with his sister, that was all he was doing here: playing with her.

sorry for the wait!
"Play" she responded happily as her butt and tail wiggled behind her. She had always thought Hawthorn to be a bit out there, but Rose loved him nonetheless. He never seemed interested in Rowan or Tigerlily, so it made her feel special when he was this interested in playing with her. Giggles erupted from her as he pounced and while there was a slight discomfort due to his weight, the russet girl made sure to return the favor and made an attempt to tug on one of his ears.

no worries :)
He grinned and tried to dodge her but ended up falling over instead, his left ear held firmly in Rose's grip. However, instead of trying to overcome her and fight back as he would normally do with his more aggressive siblings, Hawthorn simply laughed and tried to gently push her away, before attempting to reach out and tug at her tail. "Rosieee," he called, wagging his butt and tail quickly as he bounded around her, gently teasing her, goading her into following him.
