Set after this thread, assuming she manages to escape from her "pursuers."
The little red wolf fled for her dear life, running as quickly and as smartly as she could from her pursuers. It was as if everything conspired to make sure she was not sad and did not become too introspective with her life. The terrain rapidly changed beneath her, and what was once forest ground became rocky and inhabitable. The lake, which she did not yet know about, was still out of sight, and all around her rocks surrounded her. They would prove to be her only companions for the next hour or so. "I do not know who I am," she said aloud to herself, slowing once she was convinced that her pursuers were gone. Resisting the temptation to rest, she continued to push herself to walk. She needed to find somewhere a little more inviting. She needed water. She had not always been like this, questioning her identity, but it was as if her very mind was changing and transforming. Maybe she truly was going mad. It had been so long since she had been back home, and she was beginning to wonder if she would ever return. By then, the magic would be all gone. |
Jace was traipsing across the mountainous range, his blue eyes alight on different things, when he heard scurrying feet. Leaping from one boulder to the next he sat poised above whoever was running in case he had to jump down, but it was merely the imp, for whose fault it was that he bore scars around his body yet again, from foxes.
He heard her words and his ears twirked forward and he spoke quietly Well i'd say you are a little imp, but I don't know if that speaks for who you are, but rather what you are. He gave her a small smile as he sat looking down at her, already adding to his size compared to hers.

Heh. Heh. Been wanting to thread with your Jace again but didn't want to hog you
With a visible jump, the little red wolf yelped in surprise. She should not have been, given that the black wolf's scent was almost prominent here. His pack must have been close. "Oh! You're alive," she said in a rather high tone. The smile on her face appeared but vanished in the same instance. "I wasn't trying to look for you, you know. I just was--," she began before stopping short. If she admitted to the other wolf that she had been running away from yet another difficult situation, he would never let it go. "I was just taking a stroll," she said instead. Focusing her eyes on the black wolf, she could see the scars from the night before. There was nothing too bad, save for maybe a nasty bite to his neck, but the little red wolf still shivered. That had been a bad night. "How are they?" she found herself saying, "I mean, your scars." Her pale green eyes were soft with concern, and for just a moment, she forgot that she needed to play the mean one. |

Tosses jace at you hog away :D
He chuckled softly Yes I’m sorry to disappoint imp, but I’m alive. He didn’t know her name, or even where she was from, and he found he liked the mystery she had to her. He almost didn’t want to know her name, as she would always be imp to him. A stroll eh, well if you had kept coming up the mountain, you would have met the wrong end of my teeth this time, so I’m glad I caught you. He guarded his home zealously, and even though he counted her a good acquaintance at least, he wouldn’t allow her in the pack lands, mostly because the Creek had ruined it for all, coming in and pissing all over their borders.
Jace jumped the rest of the way down and landed in front of her and gave her a small smile See for yourself, no bad harm, just a few love bites. He shrugged his shoulders, How about you? How’s your heart? And your guilt? he couldn’t help the last jab, it just sort of slipped out, the little she devil managed to bring out both the worst and the best in the large male.

So his pack lands were near. Making a mental note, the little red wolf wondered if she would ever become a part of his pack. Furtively, she looked at his face from the corner of her eyes. His blue eyes were her favorite features. They seemed deep like the pools of her forest home, which seemed to reflect more of the beholder than to reveal anything about themselves. It was odd, because she felt she could see herself more clearly in those eyes, more clearly than she ever cared to see; and for some inexplicable reason, she felt the urge to tell him things. Her feelings confused her and had been part of a series of changes she was only somewhat conscious of. His sudden movement scared her, and she jumped a little again, only to immediately scold herself for doing so. She could not help her reflexes, but she still felt responsible for disciplining them. The big black wolf showed off his healing scars, and she could not help but take a tentative step forward to examine them with wide eyes. Yes, they seemed to be all right. Nothing too serious like his other scars seem to portray. As he spoke, she listened in silence, and it was only a few moments afterwards that she replied. "It hurts," she said in the smallest of voices. "My heart hurts. I always knew this about myself, but that night in the forest--I was reminded of how utterly selfish I am." Perhaps her vulnerability was the greatest jab she could ever make in return. |

Jace would offer her the chance to be in the pack if he thought she wanted it, perhaps he would anyway. He was supposed to be recruiting actively for it, he just didn’t. He was not a social wolf usually, except on the rare occasion, so if another commanded his attention for a while, well then they were worth the effort to speak with.
Jace had never really paid attention to his eyes they were just there, just like he didn’t pay attention as his baby fat grew slowly into muscles and his limber gangly proportions, became less gangly. Again if was just something he didn’t pay any mind to, outward appearances were not all that important to him. He noticed them sure, but her preferred to find out the inner appearance of another.
He chuckled Sorry I didn’t mean to startle you there. I suppose I should have told you I was jumping. He stood still as she studied the already healing wounds from the foxes. The one above his eye was finally starting to close even. Jace took a deep breath and looked at her and the vulnerability she was showing. Curses on top of curses to his gentle heart, why couldn’t he be cold and calculated instead of open and honest and caring, sometimes he wanted to send those warm feelings straight to hell.
He spoke softly as he gently bumped her head with his muzzle. I don’t think you were being selfish imp, I think you were just frightened, those foxes weren’t much bigger than you, and I’m not exactly charmingly handsome when I’m fighting for my life, I’m probably very scary and ugly and dark. SO it is only natural that you were scared, and besides you made up for it, when you made me run too. You didn’t leave me there alone the second time. he shrugged. He really felt that she wasn’t selfish just scared, and besides even if she was selfish, everyone had flaws, no one was perfect.

Unbeknownst to the other wolf, Leaf would later become a member of Swiftcurrent Creek. For no other reason, she joined as a result of having her life saved by one of the pack's leaders--yes, saved again from yet another plight of dire consequences. At this point she would not be able to even receive an offer of membership from the other wolf unless she was to forfeit or betray her new home. But she had a debt to pay back. Though her writer knew otherwise, the little red wolf was quite oblivious to the tensions between Swiftcurrent Creek and The Sunspire, and had she met the big black wolf earlier, things might have turned out differently for him and them. His words fell on deaf ears. Or though she listened to his reasoning, she remained otherwise unresponsive. She could have agreed that she had been terrified by the foxes or giggled at his joke about his appearance or even felt proud that she had redeemed herself at the end. But she did not. Her heart hardened along with her face, and it revealed neither happiness nor sadness. Instead, silence overwhelmed the pair, and the sun and the air deadened. Her pale green eyes, which had remained wide open for some time, slowly shut, and when they opened, the smallest of tears laced her black eyelashes. She blinked again, and the tears fell. They glittered like gemstones in the air, on the ground. Streams of gemstones began to flow down her face. She sobbed. |

Everything was silent, and it was the silence that was not golden. It was filled with crackling tension and electricity of what he didn't know. He didn't fully understand why everything had gone straight to hell in a hand basket, but he did know he needed to fix it, quickly. The little imp had wormed her way under his armor, which was oddily easy for most females to do, he had a soft spot for them, he blamed his mother and his sister for that both of who he was close to.
She began to cry and his heart froze up as did his body. What in god's name did he do now. The undemonstrative, was not good at emotions and feelings, mostly because he felt them too strongly so rather than succumb to them, he usually tried to ignore them and fight against them, he didn't always win, but sometimes he did. Which was partially his reason for often being so unbalanced.
He shifted from foot to foot unsure what to do and finally with a small grunt, he strode forward and nuzzled the side of her face. And ran his muzzle across her brow. Please don't cry Imp? What can I do to make it all better? Such pretty faces shouldn't cry.

Cunning as she could be, the little fox of a wolf was presently blameless. She did not understand the emotions that overtook her, blanking her mind and yet filling her heart with noise. She continued to cry even as he attempted to comfort her and only began to quiet once she began to think of an answer to this question. "M-Maybe you could get in trouble," she said, shaking the tears from her eyes, "and I could save you. Or maybe you could p-punish me somehow." The words seemed foreign to her, and blacker than even the coat of the other wolf. She did not know how to reconcile the debt she felt, especially knowing she would never be strong enough to fend off an army as he had. Knowing she was being pitiful, she stopped shaking her head and steadied her stance. there was only one response that was necessary and that should have been her very first words. But her need to feel independent had distracted her from what was most important. "Thank you for helping me." She sniffed away her snot and her tears and her pride and offered a smile. |

Jace was at a loss, she was still crying, and he was not good with crying. He actually wanted to tuck his tail and run as fast as his long legs could carry him, he was vastly uncomfortable, while at the same time he wanted to comfort her, make sure she was okay.
Jace raised an eyebrow at her, Hmm get in trouble or punish you. Well Imp I’m not big on punishment so that won’t work. I’ll tell you what, next time I’m in trouble I’ll call for you and you can save me? Deal? He shifted so that he was looking down at her with blue eyes.
Jace gave her his trademark smile boyish and crooked, it lit up his blue eyes. Your welcome imp. He tilted his head and brushed his muzzle across her for a moment , There see beautiful again, I told you pretty faces shouldn’t cry.

Leaf barked. It was a deal. Silently, the little red wolf prayed that the big, black wolf would get in trouble very soon so that she could save him, but she also prayed that the trouble would be small, very small. Yes, smaller than she. Little did she know, Jace would not need any divine assistance to bring drama into his life. It would find him eventually and would come in any size, big or small or impossible. Not acknowledging his flattery though enjoying it all the same, the little red wolf returned his boyish smile with one of her own. She returned the nuzzle innocently enough and then gestured to the pack nearby that he clearly belonged to. "Do you live there?" she asked, mostly out of curiosity. Still being a lone wolf, she was trying to decide where to call her home. She knew her chances as a lone wolf were not favorable, even though she enjoyed spending time alone. "I've sensed it before but have never been close. Its presence is more obvious now, but the scent is a little confusing." She inhaled a breath, and it confirmed that there was the scent of another pack intertwining. She was not aware of the conflicts between Swiftcurrent Creek and The Sunspire, but it would soon be one she would come to despise. |

Jace did not tell her, he couldn’t bear to tear that smile off her face yet again, but he was always attracting trouble, it came with the territory. The creek would oust him yet, and someone would get hurt if they kept coming and fighting at their borders and it made him sick.
Jace turned his head and nodded Yes I belong there imp, it is called The Sunspire. We are led by Ferdie Von Pelt, or just Ferdie. He studied the border line and a small sigh of contentment at his home worked its way up from his obsidian depths and fell out his maw. He looked at her and shook his head, wondering how much to say, without giving away how crazy he truly was, or at least how crazy he thought he was. it would be, we are originally from a pack called Swiftcurrent Creek. Ferdie and I were chased out, and we set up here. he didn’t know what to tell her or how to tell her, that he had been chased out because he had defied a direct order to kill the very man that he now followed, for attacking another wolf, or trying to. He bore the scars and held the shadows for that dreadful night.

"The Sunspire," she said. It had a magical ring to it, but the ring became metallic as she sensed the other wolf's frustration. Knitting her brows in concern, she tilted her head as he shook his head. When he revealed that he had actually been chased out from a previous pack, she felt both her curiosity and her indignation increase. "How dare they!" she exploded as he was placing the period on his sentence. Partially out of her own guilt, she desired good for her acquaintance and was offended to think that he had been wronged not only by her but by another. "Was it because you helped them when they didn't want it?" she said. Even now, she was being selfish. |
July 02, 2014, 03:58 PM
Jace nodded his head at the magical and musical quality that the sunspire offered. It was a fitting place for them, it was mystical yet practical. He chuckled at her venomous response, Some would argue that I deserved it. he sighed as she continued and her next question froze his insides.
Don't paint me an angel Imp I'm far from it. And no that is not why, I defied a direct order, because I did not believe it to be the right answer. he fell silent then wondering if he should tell her the whole truth. WHy should he though, they were not best friends, and it wasn't like she was going to join the creek wolves anyway right, since she was already this far, this way. He shrugged his shoulders then, and gave her a small smile.

She did not want to believe that the other wolf was anything but good, and especially did not want to believe that he had been as selfish as her. So when he explained that he was not perfect, she scoffed, and when he admitted that he had committed his crime out of good intentions, she could only stare at him as if to say, "I told you so!" Whether the little red wolf liked to admit it or not, she was biased towards her rescuer. How could she not be when he had saved her hide through the thick of the forest? "You see! I knew it was for a good reason," she said, saying it more for his reassurance than hers. "What I don't understand is why they would punish you if you did something out of your heart. Maybe I could go over for you and explain it to them. I'm sure they would understand." Her voice was impassioned, and her eyes were fixated on the other wolf. She was determined to have justice. Not wanting to wait any longer to enact this justice, she began to motion as if she were about to leave. She would stomp right over to Swiftcurrent Creek and demand them they apologize for judging someone's heart. For judging his heart. |

Jace saw her look at him and he shook his head she would never believe him unless he told the truth and that stuck in his throat like a crawdad, and bile rose up from the recesses of his stomach.
Hold on imp, they are not going to listen to you. They really aren't. he looked at her with big blue eyes, begging her to listen and stay. He didn't want her running off half cocked to possible get in a fight on his behalf. He sighed nad looked at her again and spoke softly If you do go, find a wolf named Bazi before anyone else okay. He knew he couldn't stop her, even if he told her the truth of the matter he didn't think it would do any good she would still want to win this fight, because she felt she owed him.

Though she had every intention to follow her words with action, the sad and rather sickly look on his face convinced her to stay a moment more. Really, it was her concern that got the best of her, and she looked at him with the same pleading eyes. Tell me more, she seemed to say with a low whine. It was pointless to ask him directly for more information, seeing as she did not deserve it and was not even that close. But if her suspicions were right, the big, black wolf would tell her some more. If only to rid himself of the truth that was already weaseling its way up his throat. |
July 05, 2014, 01:50 PM
Jace froze at her whine and he knew what she wanted him to tell her and he also knew that it would probably sign his death warrant at least from her mind, but oh well. He spoke quietly I am not a nice wolf imp, I go into rages when my adrenaline is high and complete black out, I am working on controlling it and so far I do pretty good. However, my leader is the same way and one night he went after another wolf a fellow yearling in the creek even though I told her to leave him alone, and I stepped in to defend her, he was out of his mind so I do not blame him, however he and I almost died that night at each other’s paws. Well when we told our leader she told us to kill each other to finish the job and I refused to do so, and she chased us out. So little imp there is no talking with them about me, none. There was more to the story, but he had given her the important parts. He didn’t need to tell her he had told Fox she was a bad leader and that she needed to listen more, and he didn’t need to tell her that the girl that touched Ferdie he had told her not too.
He looked down at a loss for words, unsure what to tell her, and scared to death to look up and see contempt in her eyes for him now. She was fast growing on him, the little imp that she was, and he didn’t want to mess that up, but he feared he had.

He spoke quietly, so quietly that she felt the need to lean in. Not that she minded. She enjoyed being close to the big, black wolf. But as he retold his tales from Swiftcurrent Creek, she felt confusion creep into her heart. Even though he was sharing so much, she could tell he was sharing so little, and even though she did not deserve any better, she wanted more. For some reason, she felt hurt and even cheated. She gazed at the other wolf and watched as he looked down, most likely out of shame, and she knew she ought to approach him, to comfort him and to tell him that her She felt silly. They barely knew each other! But she felt her anger rise more and more. Maybe there was something about this wolf that made her indignant, but she could not quite place what it was. "You make me so angry, Big Black Wolf," she muttered under her breath, feeling her face become hot, "and I don't like it." She, too, was looking down, unwilling to face whatever he expressed. "I need to go," she said before finally looking up. Her face was full of exasperation, though most of it was directed towards herself. For a moment, she hesitated, and leaned in as if to kiss the poor boy, but she immediately reprimanded herself. "I'm glad you're alive." With that, she left. There was nothing more to say, for now. |

I don’t mind and yes I’ll try and start one tonight if I get a chance
The little red furred she devil leaned into his voice, close enough to touch, but he of course refrained not being a physical wolf. Most of the time Physical touches drove him crazy, because he never knew what to do and how to act. If he had know he had hurt her feelings, by keeping some of his own thoughts ot himself he would have tried to rectify that.
He heard her silently say something to herself about him making her mad and she called him the big black wolf and he realized he still had yet to share his name with her, he wondered why he wasn’t so apt to give his name to her, he was usually so quick to divulge that gem of his identity. Maybe for once he just wanted someone to know him without his name and all the drivel that came with it.
He was about to tell her his name when she spoke quickly and with an exasperated expression. He tilted his head and he stood there as she walked away and he spoke quietly, but he was certain she would be able to hear him, Bye Imp. I’m glad you’re alive too. With that quiet tone, he stood and turned and ran back up the mountain side, anxious to go home and sleep, his mind was too full, and he wanted to quiet it, even if it were for a little moment.
