@Fang

She was so sure she hadn't been here before, so why did this seem so familiar? Staring up at the face of the mountain, Kipling tilted her head. Certainly she'd seen it from a distance having been trapped in Rising Sun Valley for the few days she'd been in the Wilds, but there where was something else about this setting she just couldn't place. Dipping her head to ground to try to sort it out she finally realized that she'd smelled the land before, it was familiar because she'd run into other wolves reeking of this scent.

Definitely pack territory and she was way too close for comfort. Had she been more cautious she would have been aware of the warning signs before trekking so far up the slope, and as a consequence she now found herself taking care to back up in a hurry. Nimble as she was instead of dashing straight out, she found herself hovering. Despite her better judgment she kept an eye out for some souvenir of the place, mainly of the edible variety.

For some time now the half-breed had been patrolling the borders. The explanation of the intruders that kept making a nuisance of themselves prevailed to push Fang on with more determination to enforce the lands. It ended up being almost no surprise when a faint, unfamiliar scent was carried downwind as he moved around the mountainside. He paused and looked around, this wasn't a particularly convenient spot to trespass, what would be the point? He remembered Ame's words that the Swiftcurrent pests were being annoying for the sake of it.

He turned his muzzle to the faint breeze that carried the scent, it wasn't quite how he remembered swiftcurrent wolves, granted his only encounter was with one of them. Quickly he began a trot up the hill, regardless of the circumstances this was an intruder and he had an obligation. In quick order he found the intruder, rummaging around a short way up the incline towards the sunspire. An unfamiliar, and almost unremarkable(in his opinion) wolf, no larger than himself busied themselves searching for something. In an instant the half-breeds hackles lifted as he barked a challenge, he remained between her and the border at this stage, his tail curled over his back as he stood defiant. Surely if this was a swiftcurrent they didn't need to be told they were intruding, his body language would say it all. "what are you doing here"

She just wasn't the type to stand her ground for no good reason. So caught red handed, Kipling shrunk at the sharp bark darting back quickly from the male to put more space between them, all while flattening her ears against her skull and slapping her tail beneath her. So much for finding something to eat. Still, she'd have rather not been run out if she could help it, making her own call to leave would have been most favorable. It was also the option that promised she'd be able to make it out without a few nips. So declining his challenge Kipling chuffed with a subtle shake of her head.

I didn't mean to get so close. She explained, glad she could avert his gaze in her submission, because the lie flew so quickly from her mouth. She may have not meant to trespass entirely, but she was guilty of intentionally trying to hunt around their borders, figuring that a pack's land would have the best pickings. And here she was, a nose full of dirt and nothing to show for it. The loner shifted on her paws, unsure if she would excused at this point.

Fang was never considered large, large for his half domestic side sure, but small when compared to even the most average of timber wolves. He had never had the pleasure of overt dominance over another until recently, and as he stumbled on this intruder, her actions making her practically fall into submission, evidently due in part to the fact he had an arsenal of wolves that would help protect the lands. A strange warmth surged in his chest, and he liked it.

A low, guttural growl escaped as she grovelled about intruding. A memory of himself in a similar position flashed through his mind as he stepped slowly, deliberately toward the retreating female. Despite all his bluster, and the fact his pose practically dripped of "tough" he considered the females words, without glancing over his shoulder he couldn't help but feel the distance between the border and her location was working against her excuse. He stopped his approach and spoke. You're a long way up for someone who didn't 'mean' to trespass. He made a show of sniffing before continuing. Swiftcurrent? The question was scarcely more than a growl. Of course her answer would determine whether she would be run out, or run down.

Kipling found she really wasn't up to explaining herself to the male, afraid it would turn into some lecture she didn't want to hear. Being caught had been embarrassing enough. Taking care to hold her tongue she merely offered the hybrid a light shrug of her shoulders as if there wasn't more to be said about it. She would've left it at that, but then noticed he suddenly took the time to scent the air. It wasn't such a strange occurrence, it was expected at the very least and would have overlooked it entirely if it were not for the rumbled question that followed.

What? Was the first thing to pop out of her mouth. The name was so unexpected, it took a moment for Kipling to process, and then struggling to piece it together she realized he was talking about the creek pack to the East. She'd scented their borders enough to know about their presence, but that was about as far as her knowledge went. ...nooo? Was that the right answer? She'd certainly hoped so, and would hold still if he needed further proof she was telling the truth for once.

Don't mind Fang, he be power-trippin'

Letting out a loud snort as she denied being from the swiftcurrent creek wolves, he wasn't sure he believed the female. Of course he wasn't giving her many options of just leaving willingly as he stood between her and the border. Right, so you're just some random who decided to wander into our parcklands, disregarding the clear borders because.. He paused, looking the female over for a moment. you're either a liar, or just incredibly stupid. Of course she didn't stink as the swiftcurrent did, and she wasn't here marking the border, maybe she was just. Dumb.

Whilst not totally convinced she wasn't a swiftcurrent wolf, he was not about to attack her without some other instigation, mostly due in part. To the fact that despite his posturing and attitude, he was a little bit of a pansy, for now he'd continue to investigate what the intruder was actually trying to do.

That was when her anxiety dissolved, the bubbling irritation she felt at that back of mind seeping over so that her eyes noticeably rolled. Clenching the tip of tongue to suppress a loud sigh that threatened to escape she composed herself. So stupid. She agreed briskly with a forceful nod of her head, and anyone with an ear for attitude could hear the condescending tone in her voice.

At the back of her mind she was still on edge ready to spring away, but this method of suspense was exhausting her patience. What did it matter if she was from Swiftcurrent or not? She was obviously not tied to Sunspire so the question seemed unnecessary. She half expected him to list off other packs that Kipling would also deny being allied with. So are you gonna spank me or...? She asked, testing the other wolf with a subtle raise of her brows. Either this was leading up to her saying sorry or actually being sorry.

Another low, growl escaped at her words, the condescending tone practically dripping in his ears, despite it all this intruder seemed to have little care for the fact she was intruding and quite frankly, whilst Fang was on his little power trip he expected demanded respect. Her sarcastic questioning of punishment fell on his ears, it was the final trigger the lithe male needed.

The small figures advantage was made in his speed, which would show as he
all but launched into a sprint to cover the gap between himself and the intruder. If all went according to plan he was simply aiming to charge the female full force. 'Spanking her' as she so eloquently put it

His position between her and the borders was starting to be more than a little inconvenient now. That was all she could think as she scrambled to get away from the hybrid. Running down a mountain, that was easy, running up the slope though? It proved to be more of a challenge and while her long legs rivaled his own, she knew there was no way she'd be able to keep up the pace. Despite knowing that, she couldn't swerve around and reroute herself with him present at her heels. It was like trying to change lanes while driving and having an asshole in the next lane speeding up behind your bumper. There was bound to be damage.

Generally the trick was to chase intruders out of the borders, not further in, however it could have been his inexperience at the task of border patrol that resulted in him chasing the intruder further up the mountainside. She seemed to be almost his equal in swift moves as she managed to avoid his outright charge. At this sudden pace, and the incline he was challenging he couldn't keep it up for long.

His paws dug into the dirt and rocks below the grass as he pulled his way closer to the intruder, when if, he caught up to the fleeing wolf he'd snap at her fleeing hind leg, he wasn't trying to cripple the intruder so much as trip her up. His irritation at her blasé attitude to barging across their borders had irritated. Fang more than he would have expected, and she needed to know that.

Exhaustion trickled from her sharp sips of air down to the flying feet. She knew the ledges would grow higher still, and Kipling inwardly feared that if she continued at this pace eventually she'd lose her balance. Definitely not an choice she didn't dare consider. So she turned, running out of options with the limit time she had, she had wanted to flash him her own fangs as she maneuvered, but couldn't spare the time; trying to maintain whatever stamina remained.

Adrenaline would only allow her to feel the sharp sting of his teeth against her leg as she fled down the slope and towards the borders. Minuscule specks of blood trailed behind her, a memento of her intrusion and swift escape.
