The silver wolf sat by the water's edge staring into the horizon, he was waiting for the sunrise. The sky still dark, he had sometime to wait and it gave him more time to think about other things. The new medic, Paarthurnax, how Bazi was doing, how all of his packmates were doing with the recent changes. And which route did Tuwawi and Njal and their puppies going.
A faint glow rose from the horizon and slowly grew brighter and brighter, finally lighting up the dark sky and turning it bright blue. The ashen male raised his head and a small smile escaped his lips. The sunrise helped him think about the future, about hope. The sunset calmed him down.
Would anyone come to the Creek today?
It was a long weekend XD I apologize!
Danica stalked along the water's edge, her ears alert. She was hoping to run across something to eat, but to no avail. She still walked with a limp, her shoulder not quite healed, but better. Paarthurnax had said that she might always have it, and at this point, Danica wouldn't be surprised. The leg felt wrong, the muscle weaker than the other. She would be sad to lose the speed but at least she could still manage rather well. It wasn't too noticeable.
It wasn't long before she came upon Shadow, sitting on the bank and presumably staring at the sun. Danica had never been one for watching sunsets. She got bored far too easily for that and honestly would rather have her ears chewed off than sit still that long. He seemed to be enjoying it, however. "'lo there. You seem in a good mood." She quirked her brow at him. Maybe he could spare some of his apparent calm with her. She could use it right about now.
"'lo there. You seem in a good mood." The silver male swiveled his ears towards the voice, though he already knew who was there. Danica. Slowly tearing his gaze from the rising sun, he met her pale gold eyes with his own quicksilver ones. A small smile grace the silver wanderer's features.
Not really, just thinking about everything thats happening in the Creek. Njal and Tuwawi leaving and the pups leaving, Scimitar becoming Beta, Galileo and you becoming counselors and Paarthurnax.
the last word came out as a whisper and immediately he wished he'd didn't say it.
Ignore the last word that I just said,
he said, looking at Danice. His gaze stern but a smile played at his lips. Like seriously, forget what I just said.
"Yeah, a lot has happened to think about. " She said, then gave him a grin. "So.... Paarthurnax huh? I wonder why she'd be so prevalent in your mind. And it what context." She winked, nudging him suggestively.
"Seriously, though, you can't just drop that on me and expect me to blow it off. What's goin down?" She sat down, crossing a paw over her chest. "I won't tell a soul, scout's honor!" She really wouldn't either. Really she was glad for Shadow, and maybe could even help. It'd be nice to see someone getting some action here.
"So.... Paarthurnax huh? I wonder why she'd be so prevalent in your mind. And it what context."
The sterling outrider rolled his eyes as Danica nudged him suggestively and winked. He knew he shouldn't have said that, expecially not to Danica. She wouldn't drop that subject until he had fulfilled her every request. He sighed as she sat down, crossing a paw over her chest. "I knew you weren't going to drop it. I shouldn't have said anything about that to you." his tone playful.
He turned his platinum gaze onto the rising sun for a moment before locking his icy gaze with Danica's light golden ones. One with the colors of the moon and the other with the colors of the sun.
"I think I like her, not in a friendly way but more. But I don't really know her and I don't know if she likes me at all, in any way." he groaned, exasperated. "I don't know what to do." he muttered, turning his gaze away from Danica as he lay down, chin on his paws as he watched the sun.
"Probably not, but 'shouldn't have' isn't gonna help you know." Her tone matched his, obviously jesting, but the words were true. What was said was said, time to dish.
She met his opposite eyes, then lowered her gaze a tad, not wanting to push too much. She liked Shadow, having started a sort of friendship with him that day on the lake's edge. He met her jibe for jibe and his sense of humor made him much easier to talk to than some. There were some that she would tease until it made them angry enough to leave; she had done it before without regret. Him though... she might give him a pass if he truly didn't want to talk. Might being the key word here.
However, she didn't have to worry about it. After listening with some amusement, she shook her head. "I don't think there's much of a worse person you could ask on that front for advice. I feel like I should tell you what I would do, and then you go do the opposite." She smiled wryly. As far as luck in love went she had been drawing blanks since before she could remember. "I'd probably tell her, but I don't like holding that stuff in. Can drive a wolf mad. Maybe invite her on a hunt, or on a run of some territory?" She shrugged. "Lot of talk can happen when your trying to get from one place to another. Might give the girl a chance to know you."
"Though don't you dare let on that it was my suggestion," she threatened jokingly, "or I'll tell her myself that you were whining like a lovesick pup." Her eyes shone playfully, and her tone made it plain that it was a jest, nothing more.
"I don't think there's much of a worse person you could ask on that front for advice. I feel like I should tell you what I would do, and then you go do the opposite." The silver wanderer rolled his eyes again, "Yeah, exactly. That's why I told you." Which was true because all the others would just answer him with the same advice.
He listened as she spoke "I'd probably tell her, but I don't like holding that stuff in. Can drive a wolf mad. Maybe invite her on a hunt, or on a run of some territory?" she shrugged. "Lot of talk can happen when your trying to get from one place to another. Might give the girl a chance to know you."
The sterling outrider felt the urge to roll his eyes again but resisted. "Sis, that was what I was going to do myself." he said, a smirk on his lips.He had to laugh when she said her next words "Though don't you dare let on that it was my suggestion," she said jokingly, "or I'll tell her myself that you were whining like a lovesick pup." He pretended to be offended. "Lovesick pup? You insult me sis," before laughing and nudging her in thanks. "Thanks," he said simply.
The two of them had formed some kind of friendship when they had met that day by Duck Lake. She was somebody that he could laugh with and hang out with, others were just boring. Never understanding his sense of humor but she, she was a fun wolf to be around with. "By the way, are you alright? From that fight with the Sunspire wolves." his growled the last bit out. "Maybe I could beat them up for you, if they leave the safety of their pack of course." he said jokingly although a glint of seriousness appeared in his eyes.
His pretense of offense made her crack a grin, and she nudged him back. "Only an insult if it's not true," she joked back. "For what it's worth, in my own personal opinion, I think you have a pretty good shot." Not that her own opinion counted at all in this matter. Still, she did hope it worked out for him.
"Getting there, though I'm going about crazy with the waiting. All this sitting around... I wasn't made for that." She flexed her leg, wincing a bit. "Get in line on that. I fully intend on a rematch once this heals. If I can catch them outside." She grinned more wolfishly than normal (being a wolf, all smiles have to be somewhat wolfish). "Not that I don't appreciate the offer. None of them have been sticking their noses near the Creek, have they?" She was unable to keep a bit of a hopeful edge from her voice. She didn't necessarily want a pack war, but a bit of a tussle might be fun.
He laughed, enjoying his golden friend's company. It had been quite sometime since anyone had appreciated his humor, everyone seemed so damn serious that they almost infected him with their disease. He was serious and cold most of the time, and he knew he was also quite intimidating at times but no one seemed to be able to have fun. At least Danica seemed to get his sense of humor.
"Getting there, though I'm going about crazy with the waiting. All this sitting around... I wasn't made for that." He watched as she flexed her leg and winced slightly. "Get in line on that. I fully intend on a rematch once this heals. If I can catch them outside." "No doubt about it, watching you sit as still as a stone each day makes me think that you're not Danica anymore." he smirked in reply to her wolfish grin.
"Not that I don't appreciate the offer. None of them have been sticking their noses near the Creek, have they?" He grinned, a sly look in his platinum eyes. "Well," he began. "I saw one by Otatso Wetlands and basically tore her into pieces of Sunspire meat." he said nonchalantly, thumping his tail once on the ground.
She perked up quite a bit when Shadow mentioned catching one of them near the wetlands. "Ohhh don't tell me. Black fur, green eyes, and a nasty bite?" She truly hoped he confirmed it. It would be nice to know someone had gotten a more sizable piece of her than what Danica had managed.
He nodded, a smirk on his face. "Yep, found her wandering around in the wetlands, stunk of the Sunspire and I couldn't resist the urge to fight her." he grinned. "Did you fight here too?" he asked, wondering if it was the black furred green eyed Sunspire wolf that had given her a limp. If he'd knew that, he would have been more vicious. "Was she the one that gave you that leg injury?"
He eyed her wounded leg, if it was indeed that green eyed female from The Sunspire that did this to her. The next time he saw her, the fight would be even more vicious, he would be fighting to damage her leg, but making sure at the same time that his own legs weren't going to get hurt.
"You seem to have come out of it better than I did. I salute you," she bumped her good shoulder against his. Perhaps someday after she was healed up she'd have him show her some moves. Seemed he was a smarter tactician than she if he managed to get out of that one without serious harm and to do some considerable damage in return.
Danica bumped her shoulder against his own. "You to seem to have come out of it better than I did. I salute you," The sterling outrider smiled, "It is an honor," he said playfully, "If I ever see her and Ferdie again, they're going to wish they were never born." he said in a serious tone, a promise. No one hurts his friends and loved ones and got away with it. No one.
"When you get better, sis, we should go kick their asses together." he smirked, nudging her affectionately with his shoulder. He would like to fight alongside her one day, she was strong and easy to be around with. Or at least for him. He knew that some wolves probably thought her insufferable but he enjoyed her company.
"Which means I should probably get back. I'd hate to disappoint that pretty healer of yours." Somehow she felt Paarthurnax wasn't the pushover she seemed on first appearances. Besides, the more she did what the healer said, the less she'd have to deal with the woman in that capacity. As a packmate she was all well and good... but Danica still didn't trust anyone poking around her injuries but herself. It made her edgy just thinking about it. "Keep honing your skills though, good sir, and perhaps we will have a practice round before we go at it with those two. I want to see what you've got."
A grin crossed the silver wolf's face, eyes gleaming. He would look forward to fighting alongside with the golden female, no doubt she was a brilliant fighter and even if they couldn't find anyone to beat up, he would love to spar with her. It would be nice to learn from her moves so he could improve his battle skills. Besides it would help him earn his warrior trade.
"Which means I should probably get back. I'd hate to disappoint that pretty healer of yours." He winked at her. "Mine huh?" he smirked. He had faith in Paarthurnax, that she could heal Danica's leg and soon she would be as good as new. "Keep honing your skills though, good sir, and perhaps we will have a practice round before we go at it with those two. I want to see what you've got."
"Of course, my lady." he said, his voice full of playful sarcasm. "I'll spar with you when that leg of yours is healed, then we'll beat those two up."
"Well, I'm off to stare at the creek bank in a very thrilling manner. See you later." With a wink she turned and padded away, back to her spot.
"Well she sure as hell isn't anyone else's. So that's something." He laughed softly at her statement. "Well, I'm off to stare at the creek bank in a very thrilling manner. See you later." The sterling outrider smirked at her as she winked and turned his gaze back at the horizon. Many might think he was weird and maybe he was but staring at the sunsets and sunrises helped him concentrate.
He smiled, maybe he did indeed have a future ahead of him. One that was better than what he had thought when he had left his siblings.
