He was going to let the pack settle down for a month or so before getting into the details of Roman pack life. Senators had to be voted for, meetings had to be held, hunts had to be hosted, winter supplies had to be collected, dens had to be made or found, wolves had to be questioned, borders had to be patrolled and a bunch of other stuff. Basically the life of a Praetor was not all sunshine and rainbows, in fact it was the total opposite. Responsibilities nagged at him everyday. Wolves began to approach his borders, some just randomly trespassing while others seeked a home.
Enya, his new slave was an example of what happened to those who trespassed on his lands. Today, he had woken up, given the slave her duties for the day and was about to begin his usual border patrols when he realized that he still hadn't found a suitable gathering spot. Where the Senate would be held, where meetings happened. And he did not have time to find one.
He needed a few members of his pack to help him find one but who would come? He stood in the middle of a clearing in the forest, pondering.
He was shook out of his thoughts when a familiar scent flew by, it was the Praetor, Shadow. Curiously, the roman yearling found his way to the clearing where the silver male stood, apparently deep in thought.
Now that her medicine cache was well stocked, she'd been making more effort to make herself known throughout the territory. She was one of the pack's highest ranking wolves, and aspired to remain at the top. Paar had never felt the pull to be dominant, but now that she was aware of the competition for breeding rights and rank, she had developed a new determination to be at the top. To be a leader would mean the best chances for her own pups, so she had a lot of work to do.
Abandoning the borders when she spotted a pack-mate heading her direction, she saw no further need to progress since he'd already scented and ensured the safety of the outskirts in that particular direction. So Paar headed deeper into Noctisardor woodland with the intention to seek out and develop her bonds with the other pack wolves, but happened across both her beloved Shadow and a tawny yearling that she recognised from the first meeting when the pack rose their voices as one.
"Hey," the crimson Frostfur greeted the two males with a sway of her fine tail, and paused nearby to shoot her partner her loveliest smile.
Cool sterling eyes turned to see Tiberius, the tawny Roman yearling. He was about to greet him and ask about his duties when Paarthurnax came, "Hey," she said, shooting him a bright smile which he returned. "Hey," he replied with a slight tilt of his head and a faint smile on his lips as he turned to look at Tiberius. "How are you?" he asked him pleasantly wondering if the youth had been working a bit too hard securing the area for it seemed that Tiberius had been working a lot.
His thoughts turned to the gathering place and his platinum eyes lit up, wondering whether or not they would accept it. "I have a job for you guys," he began, "If you aren't too busy." he paused and waited for their reply, hoping that they would accept it because he really needed a gathering place.
Soon they were joined by a crimson female, one that he did not know well but had seen her in the claiming howl. "I have a job for you guys," Shadow said. "If you aren't too busy." A brief smile graced the Roman yearling's lips at that, he was always busy, all Romans were busy every second of their life, it just meant whether or not they were really busy or just simply a bit busy. "I'm not too busy, I'll be glad to do the job Praetor." he replied with a regal dip of his head before turning to the unknown female.
"I don't think we know each other," he said politely in his faint accent which was probably identical to Shadow's one. "I am Tiberius Flavius Corflammeum, a Roman." he said, dipping his head respectfully again. She seemed close to the Praetor and he wondered if there was something going on between the two of them.
He spoke directly to her then, a very formal introduction, and truthfully it made her feel rather out of place to discover that he too was of Roman descent. Was this a common bloodline within the Teekon Wilds? Paarthurnax inhaled deeply, steeling herself against her budding "I'm jealous that you have more in common with Shadow than I do" feelings, and tried to maintain her brilliant smile despite the sudden urge to shrink.
"We met briefly at the gathering when we announced or claim. I am Paarthurnax," she offered simply, not carrying much to offer her surname or include her own bloodline. She absolutely did not wish her relationships with pack-mates to be formal ones. With introductions over, Paar blinked her divine copper eyes back to Shadow to await his instruction.
He waited for the introductions to be over before speaking "I need a suitable gathering place, where I will hold pack meetings, senator elections, senate meeting etc. It needs to be able to hold at least fifteen wolves, a spot for the leader sit, preferably a stone or a boulder or a ledge above the others. Comfortable ground to sit on, and you get the idea." Shadow said, feeling that that was about what he wanted the gathering place to be like. The sterling outrider would add a boundary line, a kind of fence to keep unwanted wolves away when senator meetings were held.
Shadow nodded to Tiberius, "Tiberius will know what I want, he probably had one of those in his old pack if not more." he did not meant offense to Paarthurnax but was simply stating a fact. The tawny Roman would know what he meant and what he wanted, and that was better than what he had wanted.
Shadow went on the explain what it was he wished of them, and Paarthurnax averted her fiery copper gaze from Tiberius to look upon the face of her partner. She observed quietly as he dipped his sterling head toward the tawny male and, curious, she blinked in his direction too. "Tiberius will know what I want," he said, which sparked mild irritation within her. Was she unsuitable when it came to pleasing her leader?
Swallowing her wounded pride, the bi-coloured beauty turned her lovely crown to seek the features of Shadow once more. "As you wish," she said curtly, and made to move off with a beckoning chuff to her emerald-eyed comrade.
