^.^ for @Cara!
She was eternally grateful that the tawny white female had taken in the scrap formally known as Ivev- an eclipse of her former self. Soon after their brief introductions, the thin white ghost sulked down to the lake's edge and found herself slumped along the frozen coastline. The ground was ever so cool, and no matter how long Ivev had laid there, it stole her body heat. It seemed that even the slightest activity tired the young wolf out, a fact she would try to hide well from her new pack until she recovered substantially. That would be hard; Ivev lifted her skull from the sunken, frozen dirt to stare at her body. The fight with Shadow seemed so far in the past, but the wounds echoed the chase every day in her mind. The cut on her tail and back limbs, the bite marks along her scruff and shoulder, and the most obvious- the gaping wound upon her lower right hindleg.
The curling mountains around Ouroboros' lake provided plenty of physical and emotional protection, with its peaks blocking plenty of wind and clouds, and standing like sentinels against the overworld. But Ivev feared the encroaching night, where the sun would dip behind the mountains hours before the day actually ended. The temperatures would plummet. She had always loved the cold, but the coming days would be a trial for the adult. Would she be able to stand it, or would winter drag Ivev back to the place where she once came from?

Out of all virtues that could bless a soul 'mercy' was the least expected one to inhabit Cara's heart. But as it was usual in the Teekon Wilds, and more specifically the Spine, one should already know to expect the unexpected. A mere week after Cara's scandalous engagement, a routinary patrol by her borders had taken an abrupt turn -- whether it had been for better or worse remained yet to be seen.
As the proud yearling prowled the edges of her territory the faint smell of blood had made her raise her tail in alarm. The source, an injured she-wolf of immaculate white, had led her away from her duties and onto an unknown path inside of herself.
The path of mercy.
In an astonishing twist of events, the injured woman had managed to somehow convince the female of not only offering her help but comradeship, thus letting her into the ranks without much problem.
Despite her strict selectiveness, there had been something about the injured female that had made Cara's stony heart move. A buried memory of another blue eyed, pearly wolf with a resembling interest in herbs.
Now, however, it was not her heart which moved.
With her paws tearing over the freshly fallen layer of snow the pale yearling scanned the area, her nose following one trail alone.
Hers.

Just being alive was a grand thing, something that Ivev had always speculated- something she could see now by the soft hues that played out on the lake. When the time came, the water would make for the most perfect mirror of the heavens above, as if the night was drowning within its depths. The female pushed herself up into a sitting position, silently berating herself. The ground was cold and the snow seemed desolate, but if her spirit was set to it, Ivev would make sure she fulfilled her promises.
The crunching of snow reached the snowbird's ears long before she could spot the alphess coming down the bank. Balancing her weight on her front paws, Ivev made slow but sure progress, and finally hopped up on three legs whilst keeping the injured back one elevated. Having set her mind to it, Ivev was glad Cara had sought her out, for she needed to get started- and soon.
Unsure of how to address her new leader, the white wolf respectfully bowed her head and glanced off towards the snowy ridges.
"Miss Cara," Ivev spoke, the greeting sure and belying no pain that was currently coursing through her back leg. She had enough times of feeling dizzy from the wound. The female waited to be acknowledged before disclosing her plan to the young, effervescent queen, although Ivev realized she had little time.

With the receding memory of the pack's ancient shaman lurking around the edges of her mind the Queen marched across the Spine's grounds, her nose carrying her directly towards her target: Ivev.
It was a pleasure to see that the newly recieved female had not been as elusive as some of the other members were, some of which she had yet to pin point and talk to.
With determination shining upon her eyes and her tail adopting the now so natural pose of dominance she stepped forth, closing the distance between her and the female. "Ivev" she responded, her head dipping gracefully in a brief movement of awkwoledgement. Now that subordinate and Alpha stood face to face she noticed that the resemblance between the never forgotten shaman and her was uncanny.
The Queen's eyes danced upon the female's form for a second, not failing to note the hind leg the female favored. "How is that leg?" she barked motioning slowly towards it with the tip of her pistol-thin muzzle. While she was no Healer she was not ignorant on the subject either.

Her approach was calm and collected, and Ivev balanced herself just a bit more to give her attentions to Cara. The white female caught the quick flash of some lost feeling behind the alphess's almond-shaped eyes, and the healer wondered if something had transpired. Or if the arctic creature brought about unpleasantness to her new home. She hoped neither was the case, for Ivev wanted to provide the best service to these wolves. She was in their debt for taking an injured creature such as she in.
"It's alright. The cold keeps infection away." Ivev took a deep breath and smoothed out her ears, hoping the other female's response to her next statement was positive.
"There are some things I haven't found yet in the Spine- plants, specifically. I was wanting to ask your permission to extend my searches outside and see if there was still some live specimens growing in other areas."
She was never a fan of using herbal remedies for assisting in healing- Ivev had been taught different methods to purify a wound. But there were somethings chewed up painkillers, like willow bark, that were unmatched in any other sense. Ivev would hope the alphess understood, for Ouroboros was situated in a higher elevation and the frost struck harder here than it did in other places.

While it was still far too early to determine whether the female's acceptance had been more of a burden than a blessing, Cara held on to the hope that Ivev would at least try to make it the latter. The vague mention of the female's interest in the mastership on herbs and remedies was again prodded into her mind as the female answered to her question with a somewhat knowledgeable mention of how the cold temperatures worked at her favor.
"I never did ask how'd you get it" she mused, not directly stating her desire to know but rather leaving it as an unspoken question the white female could either take or not. While Cara was selfishly intrigued by every little detail that adorned her pack and its members she was not an openly prying creature. The information she recieved was in many cases product of her vile manipulations and trickery.
There was however not much time for an answer to be given.
With her ears still pricked in the female's direction Cara listened intently to Ivev's request. A expression of pure delight curved her features as soon as she ended. The simple fact that she seeked her permission was a boost to the yearling's ego, not to mention the liking that had begun to develop towards the ex-shaman's look-alike.
"Will you travel in that condition?" she asked, not meaning to insult the female's injuries but rather find out whether the to-be healer saw that as a good call. Besides, it would be a shame to lose her now that she had only arrived.
"Will you require some escort?" she asked next, her pale eyes settling upon her as she mentally went over the possible candidates for the task.
Of course, Cara understood the importance of a herb specialist.
But, of course, she also understood the dangers a journey of such magnitude could bring to a wounder wolf, more if she travelled alone.

Ivev wasn't sure if it was a good time to bring up what had happened, but then again, the female thought that it might never be the perfect opportunity to disclose the past. And her recounting of the event might help Ivev with the constant anger and resentment she had caused herself.
I wandered onto pack territory, looking for someone.... It wasn't a wise decision. The alpha chased me out.
Although the wound was scabbing and scarring over, as Ivev shifted under the alphess' gaze, she quenched bolts of pain. At least Cara's scrutiny had changed to one of delight, and it made the arctic female happy that she could set about not only finding some medicine for her leg, but perhaps stocking up on the various berries and bark that survived the frost.
If you did provide me an escort, I think they'd get a boring earful of herb-talk, Ivev grinned with a twinkle in her round eyes.
But, I would never say no to company.
The female was beginning to feel a bit more relaxed and open to her new home, now that she had been greeted in such a calm way. After collecting some supplies, the ivory wolf would begin her search for a place to set up a residence, somewhere where the female had a unblocked view of the sky.

While Cara had not meant in anyway to serve as a counselor to help Ivev vent out her bottled emotions she surprisingly accepted the role with little hassle. Dealing with emotions and feelings was not one of Cara's fortes, a statement that could be evidenced by the brash actions and impulsiveness she allowed to fall victim to in times where emotion ruled a situation, yet she abstained from interrupting the female with an unamused chuff as she revealed the reason of her wounds.
Trespassing was an offense in Cara's book and she would have perhaps, done the same if not worse.
"Good thing you didn't trespass here then" she commented bluntly, not meaning for her words to come as a threat or a scolding but merely a well validated opinion. If it had been her in the Alpha's shoes, Cara, not to even mention the hostile Beta, would have not hesitated. Especially now that Mara's threat hung over their heads and the level of skepticism from the Alpha pair stood at edge, Ivev wouldn't have standed a chance. Her words were followed by a silent flare of her nostrils, a subtle gesture to hint her personal distaste for the female's offense, which most luckily for Ivev, was short lived.
While it would be just like Cara to think that once a trespasser nothing but a trespasser today, with Ivev as sole witness, she would give first the benefit of the doubt before pointing fingers. "I think I know who I'll get for you" she barked, returning to the same amusement she had held before Ivev revealed the cause of her injuries.
Her mind went inmediately to one name alone.
@Sitri 's.
Aside from being one of her most trusted subordinates (falling second to only Kaname) he would serve as a great bodyguard for the aspiring Naturalist. Plus, Cara had an inkling that the pale female would find his company as gratifying as she did.
All there was left now, was to wait for the scarred Gamma to appear.

The brute heard the howl and loping he headed towards it. He wondered what she would want with him, she hadn't talked to him since the night they spoke about babies and Kaname. He hadn't meant to upset her at the time, but he felt that he had. Perhaps she was calling to tell him about it, or to yell at him for it.
He made it to her side and looked at the two females. He dipped his muzzle and looked around with gleaming eyes. You called? He shifted his large body, moving his big paws across the ground in a scuffle. A little worried, and out of his element as two wolves stared at him.

Cara seemed to be hinting at something, and the healer narrowed her eyes in thought. Ivev wondered if there was some issues with trespassers, and if it was something to be careful of when out on her expeditions.
She turned her head to see the auburn brown male trekking out of the forest to their position on the bluff above the lake. Cara had called him Sitri, and he looked like a wolf undoubtedly loyal to the alphess, carrying his scarred face proudly as he approached them. The wounds were long since healed, but Ivev knew the memories would never fade.
I'm Ivev, she introduced, dipping her ivory head to the Gamma. She would wait for Cara to continue the conversation, but there was curiosity brimming inside about this male. Ivev could only imagine the stories he would have.

Despite the Gamma's suspicions and worries, no scolding or harsh words were in store for him, especially not in Cara's heart. Regardless of the little uncomfortableness she had felt at the end of their late night discussion she had not felt in the least as if it had been his fault. It had been his word what had woken the doubt in the female's heart, but never the scarred man himself what had roused such feelings of dispair.
For Sitri, Cara held simple, yet very meaningful feelings.
Trust and appreciation.
Only a few minutes were able to roll by before the marred visage of the Gamma appeared before their eyes. Like always he carried himself with strenght, however, never failing to show the pale Queen his proper submission. With a delighted grin climbing on her lips and her tail falling into a rythmical wag she greeted the man with a soft woof.
He looked at the female with curious, yet discreet eyes and for a moment Cara felt silly for not first introducing them. Gladly, Ivev fixed her little slip up quickly. A small chuff of approval left her chest as she turned back to the male in hopes to tell him more about why he had been summoned now that Ivev was not some awkward stranger in the background.
"Yes,Sitri" she affirmed with a subtle dip of her chin accompanied with a twist of one of her ears.
"I'd like for you to do me a favor -- do Ivev and me a favor" she barked softly while gesturing at the pale female behind her before continuing, "Would you mind joining Ivev while she searches for herbs and other plants outside the Spine? " she asked, her eyes scanning over his face attentively.
"I don't want her to go by herself" she explained briefly while flashing a small smile in Sitri's direction before turning to meet Ivev's icy orbs with her own.

Sitri tilted one ear forward to catch the words of the pale female. The other he held tightly to his head, listening to Cara on his other side. He dipped his own muzzle in greeting, guttural hoarse voice as always reached out to cover the chasm between the two.
Well Met Ivev. Sitri
He grew quiet, but turned red eyed gaze to Cara. He listened and nodded once to affirm. She knew she didn't need to ask, he'd do whatever she wanted. He turned back towards the female.
Sitr...I'll go with you. How far do you plan on going? And will you need my help to carry your plants?

perhaps last post and make a new thread? :3
Ivev looked up to listen to the scarred brute's words. Once the pleasantries were exchanged, she nodded in response to Sitri's questions.
I don't plan on going far- I have a bit of a hindrance with my leg currently, the female replied, motioning to the wound resting on her back right haunch. I noticed a good spot just east of here. I bet you're more familiar with the land, perhaps you could direct me to the areas I'm looking for? A small smile brimmed on her lips with the male's last comment.
I'm sure you could handle anything that we decide to bring back.
The arctic female was glad the alphess was looking after her. It was a little unnerving to head out by herself after traveling all this way to escape one particularly nasty individual who had a tendency to reappear in occasional nightmares.
