She appeared gleeful for a split of a second, only for this expression to fade away quickly. This was disgusting in a way - this joy for being liked even now, when there was nothing in her that others would find admirable. She was not beautiful, not pretty - illness, exhaustion, state of depression - had taken their toll on her. She was selfish, weak, wallowing in guilt and misery, feeling pity for herself. It was no secret to her that it was her fault alone that she had got this far - she had pushed all of her friends away, severing the relationships. Yet here she was... taking a bite of a forbidden fruit.
