Pied listened without interruption as Thistle spoke, though she mouthed, Gooey fur? in bewilderment. The mention of wearing a coat of blood made her think of Lecter, who she'd only met a few times back in Bon Dye. Evidently, the shaman now lived in the same pack as Jinx. The Gamma's thoughts wandered to him only a moment before snapping back to Thistle's lilting voice.

"That might break their teeth, though," Pied thought aloud, "or the shell itself will break and they could swallow the pieces." She made a hmmm sound low in her throat. "I like the idea of making little noisemakers, though. What if we found a clamshell, filled it with pebbles, then fastened it together to make a sort of rattle?"

When Thistle asked if she was excited, a glowing smile broke out over the Gamma's face. "You have no idea. I've always wanted to be a mother. My dream is finally coming true." Her tail waved and she beamed, the words reigniting her excitement on the whole matter and making her heart beat happily in her chest.
