The moment that Kroc seemingly gained a hold on the wolf, Echelon saw her moment to jump in. She grabbed after a hind leg as the female rocked back and forth, out for blood and bone to do more than teach her a lesson. It was worth the effort to maim her and show her the error of her ways — her screaming was nothing more than some sort of fiendish delight that she was beginning to understand them. This misjudgment would be her last in Echelon's eyes and she would give no mercy easily.
