You would think that after the seemingly endless journey she'd been on to find the Prince, Nochtli would have stayed close to home-base. This was not the case at all, her wanderlust now a voluntary thing. She would leave the Ride for a few days, only to return and rest for a few more before picking another direction and walking. A few days ago, she had chose to travel South once more and angled that way, taking her time to explore and take note of things of interest. The dark wolf had already made mental reminders to bring Cita down this way, sure she'd enjoy the plants and herbs that Nochtli had discovered.
Hours later and there was the smell of water near by, clean and fresh. The lands here, despite their... uniqueness, were quite interesting. Beautiful too, but neither beauty nor interest were what caused the Amazon to quicken her pace. A pale figure lie on the ground ahead. Curious and... odd. Nochtli felt a cold touch run down her spine, her strides lengthening to let her run and close the gap between her and the other in short time. Maybe they were asleep. Maybe they were just resting. Maybe--
Her eyes darkened, pinching in concern as she slowed suddenly, head lowering to nose the wolf's shoulder. Even as she did so, Nochtli knew her actions were in vain, the smell of death just starting to linger. A frown took her expression as she looked around, looking for any others around on the off chance that they were looking for this one. But there was none. She had died alone, the cause unknown to the Scout though she wondered if it had anything to do with the plants scattered on the ground before her. Cita would know, but her companion was not here.
A deeper frown etched its way onto her face but Nochtli did not venture away from the female, instead taking time to dig into the earth. Her efforts did not cease until a grave had been dug, having zero intentions to leave her for Mictlantecuhtli's servants to discover. Already, they circled above, much to the dismay of the Amazon who increased her efforts to give the wolf a decent burial. Though Nocta had not known her, still the female would do what she could for her, even in death. Eventually, the earth was lain back over her and she stepped away, her own dark form dirt covered. Her work was not done, however.
"Tlaloc, protect this daughter as she passes into your realm..." The words were whispered as the woman turned away, following the girl's scent path to find her home and inform her presumed loved ones of their loss.
