Larksong Grotto Now we got problems

When Saena wandered away from home, the last scent she thought she would encounter was Fox's. Indeed, she was beginning to forget what that vile woman even smelled like, but when she crossed the Redhawk Alpha's trail somewhere just northeast of Redtail Rise, the fur on her spine rose into a wicked crest. Wariness settled over her, and from that moment on, Saena went about her business (that of tracking a small herd of mule deer) with utmost vigilance. She didn't need to be found out here by someone as murderously insane as her father's mate, not where she couldn't call for back-up.

So nervous was she that she swung sharply south and headed toward the mountains, but found herself climbing down a precarious natural staircase into the deep, damp heart of a forest instead. There was shelter here, and she knew nothing of how it was a dead end. Larksong Grotto was altogether new to her, though she'd been on its outskirts before, but if Saena noticed how beautiful and tranquil the place was, it was masked by her worry that she would be found by the one who sought (she thought) to find and murder her.

When she reached the pool of water in its centre, Saena bent down to drink, but her ears were pinned upright so she could avoid being snuck up on, one forward and one twisted back to cover all directions.
