"What do you expect? Tea and crumpets?" Saena huffed at Sebastian. Of course she was hostile toward him after his Alpha made an attempt on her life without provocation. Sebastian had to be dense to not understand that. Would he not behave the same?

"I don't make nice with friends of would-be murderers," she explained, her tone only slightly lighter. She didn't care much what Sebastian had to say about why. She was owed an explanation before Fox tried to rip her throat out. Since it hadn't been given to her, she wasn't about to give any kindness back, not even to a potentially innocent subordinate like Sebastian... and even then she wasn't sure she wanted to know the reason anymore. Curiosity was probably more dangerous. Besides, it didn't matter why. Even if it was the most legitimate reason in the world, Saena hadn't deserved an attempt on her life and she would never forget or forgive it.
