Luke gestured with his head to the damaged forest that sat between the lake and the caldera. "I was in there," he explained. "Probably not the best choice, a tree decided to come down and give me a beating," he joked, punctuating with a wink as he so often did. While it had been a poor choice, he also did not have a wealth of options to choose from. The tree had savaged him, but if he had bedded by the lake he likely would have suffered the same fate as many of the fish: picked up and cast onto the earth to rot. It was another downside to being a lone wolf: he did not have the area mapped the same way a pack would map their territory, or perhaps he would have been aware of a safe haven like the caves her parents had sheltered in.

Having sensed her stiffen at his earlier comment to rest here, the blue-nosed wolf rose to his paws. "On second thoughts, I'm kind of hungry," he said. "I think I'll go find a bite to eat before I take a nap. Before I go though," he paused, smiling warmly. "What's your name?"
