He had gotten her stuck, he had gone and drug her out into this wretch swamp — and a sound from the depths beyond them gained her attention.

It was a bubbling sound, low and gurgling from depths she could not see. Her eyes had long left her predicament to scan the fetid waters, as though she would truly be able to find this fabled creature that Iqniq had spoken of. Of course, there was no telling just what on earth it was that had drawn the sound out, but it had her attention in full for that moment. What was it?
