The tension was palpable, and Lakhesis knew her time was short here. Muscles beneath the man's fur were tensed and indicated that she would be chased on a single wrong move. Her eyes flicked to the female who, while decidedly less hostile, was no less welcoming. She bowed her head again, ears lurching forward as she caught his words. A snarl of frustration threatened to ripple across her features but she restrained, instead looking up again with a polite nod.

"No matter," she said off-handedly, before giving him a hard stare. "But beware, the boy is cursed." At least, he would be in time — and if she could turn his packmates against him, all the better. With a flick of her tail and one last glance to the steadfast subordinate, the witch fled from the pack lands.
