Emberwood to what end

The night was new and fresh upon the land, instilling the Emberwood with a brisk chill to hint at the progress of autumn towards winter. It was the perfect time for him to prowl - and the woods, lovely and foreign as they were, were thick in the scent of prey. Micco would linger at the base of the mountain, taking his time to explore the various paths as he sought a meal. The forest was aptly named; each tree seemed to be aflame with autumn's hold, albeit dulled by the somber light of the  moon. He wasn't interested in what was above him - the cougar wanted to feast, and so he searched the shadows for sleeping beasts to set upon.
