A howl rang out across the forest, one filled with pain unlike any others. She would never forget the ache in her heart or the sorrow it felt for years to come, for no pain like it had ever touched her soul. Something split her ice cold heart to it's core, like her very moral code was shattering into something she couldn't contain. The sky was dull, a darkened gray as if it could tell the nature of loss. Something had happened, something that would shape the course of Blackfeather, something that would break them down bit by bit until only an empty shell remained.

Her leg carried her faster than ever before as she raced towards Burke, not thought on her mind but the darkened desperation that circled her heart. Somehow she knew, like the forest had mimicked what was happening.

Her paced slowed, reaching the Alpha and his kin as something foul churned in her stomach. One whiff of her nose confirmed the untamable sadness that sunk into her soul. Meldresi. She struggled to contain her stomach as the thought of her priestess gone made her want to cough up everything she had eaten before. The Dark Queen had fallen, and no matter how much she wanted to deny it, nothing could bring her back. Her ears lowered in somber silence as she waited back from the family gathering, only letting out a pained whine. This was a time for their grief, and adding her's didn't help anyone. She would do what she could in the background, like she had promised Meldresi.

The first glimpse of the Queen was the hardest, as she roughly swallowed away the beginnings of a miserable tear. Never was she sentimental but a part of her soul mourned for the children, the pups that would never know their mother. That's what made her ice crack, the selfless feelings she had for the others that would not be fully repaired by the loss.
the only way to keep your people loyal is
to make certain they fear you more than they do the enemy
