Her response to him was less than friendly, which puzzled him. He hadn't known she was even here. When had she arrived? His recent issues with his brother and all the bullshit he'd had to deal with had hardened him quite a lot, so the sense of joyful affection he had felt blossoming within him at the sight of her was quickly doused and was replaced by something colder and more indifferent.
