Blackfeather Woods Farewell

Damien had been struck hard by the unexpected. It felt, indeed, like Meldresi was in fact immortal even to him, but reality was hard on the hopeful. Perhaps it was time for Damien to let that go as well. He would not have his mother anymore to guide him, he would have to find his own way in life, and right now it was very clear what he had to do.

The eldest brother decided that Grieving Meldresi would only slow him down in life. It had been a risk to breed at such an advanced age, he knew it, Meldresi knew it, and these were the consequences. She would be missed, her words would be remembered, only her physical form was not going to move among them anymore.

In silence, Damien said farewell to his mother. She would pass to another plane now, where she would surely be closer to Mephala's realm, and there she would be of more use than up here where the bodies are vulnerable. After a moment of silence on his own, Damien came out of the den to give space for the rest of the pack to pay their respects, and slowly moved towards his brother to licked his face, and then Potema's. They were his world now. But in his rush, Damien had missed the twins which had been taken out to the open for the first time. He had not interacted with them yet, but they too, made part of his little world from this moment forward.

Damien looked at Kendra, who was inspecting Cicero's paws curiously, and licked her forehead cautiously. Then he did the same with Pietro, who was a little more nervous than his sister. This was him telling them that he would be their warden no matter what.
