haha of course! :)

He snaked between the pines, his ears pivoting to the sound of a bird alighting on a branch above him, and the sound of a squirrel chattering its irritation to another. The borders had not been refreshed in some time, but that did not mean the plateau no longer served as a home to someone. He had encountered stubborn wolves before, who refused to accept the disbanding of their pack, who clung to their territories as if they still had claim to them.

His eye was drawn to disturbed soil. Flung about in clods and clumps, it looks apart from the rest of the relatively smooth earth. He stepped closer, lowering his nose and there, catching the faintest trace of meat. He dug his hard black nails in, excavating an old cache, but finding it empty of anything but morsels that had fallen from the main course. His disappointed exhale blew a cloud of dirt about his nose, and he seized a small fragment of bone between his teeth.

He was alerted by a voice, commanding tones not unnoticed. His head snapped up, gray eyes settling on a white furred male, his ear giving a twitch. He said nothing as he appraised this wolf, though a nettled brow did raise. Was it this one's pack that lived here before?
