The fox doesn’t move while she watches the dark wolf, ears cupped forward and her front end bowed down and ready to spring.  She focuses on him while the other wolf shows up completely undetected.  Sollie takes a long shaky breath, swallows the lump forming in the back of her throat, and tries to take a few steps back.  Her movements are slow and careful not to disturb the earth beneath her, as she weasels back to try and get away without being noticed.
