Luna's stance dropped and she backed away, but that didn't do much to stop Farstep's aggression. He harried her with warning snaps of his jaws and displeased growls until she passed over the unmistakable trampled, yellow-spotted snow where the wolves drew their borders, and then he stood still, firmly within the pack's territory, and stared her down. His stance did not change, but remained aggressively dominant. As with anything anyone said, he didn't understand her apology. Even if he had, he never would've accepted it. Crossing the borders was a mistake that a lone wolf could not afford to make, the ultimate crime as far as their kind was concerned, and no amount of apologizing or submitting would correct it in the eyes of the offended pack.

Having shown evidence that she lacked a working nose and had no common sense or instinct, Farstep shut the door of opportunity on her. He wasn't the Alpha, but he didn't need their permission to send an unsuitable wolf on their way, and he didn't need confirmation of her unsuitability either. He knew well, and so he remained dominantly postured and snarled threateningly, ensuring she would not cross the borders again and would leave quietly.
