The hunt had taken no time at all, though her input had been less than usual. While Burke took the lead, choosing a healthy stag as their victim, she remembered what she had been tasked with. The Alpha's children were now old enough to experiance or more watch closely on a hunt though not mature enough to understand the dangers of the hunt. While being the prey, elk were tough creatures. One kick to the head could easily kill a wolf if one was not carefull. To Kendra and Pietro, she assumed it was all fun and they did not weigh on the consequences of what would happen if they got too close to it's legs. Burke surely wouldn't mind if she held back a bit to watch his children. Afterall, their safety was imperative for Blackfeather's success. All the death and departure took a toll on them as a group and the injury of the young would not soften that wound. Venus seemed to hold back as well, and she couldn't help to feel a little bit threatened by the gesture. Babysitting was her job, not the girl's. She had never called herself overprotect, but she didn't yet trust Venus with the children, afterall Burke had asked her to do it because of his trust in her, and she wasn't about to get pushed out of her own responsibility. Besides, the girl was just sitting there anyways, not really looking after them, her mind told her. A sharp look was sent in Venus's way, though it was heightened by the high emotions enticed by the hunt.

After the life force had been drained from the deer's eyes, she stood back to await her turn to eat. It was common knowledge that the Alpha ate first followed by his kin and so on. Though even Kendra earned a snarl for her hasty readiness to eat, having not been called upon just yet. Nemesis would make no mistake in disrespecting her place. While she was the next rank down from Burke, she knew her position well enough to know that he was her elder and she would eat only when called upon. Her eyes flickered to the impatient Xan as they all stood waiting hungrily for their turn at the blood flowing carcass. She had watched him to as he held back near the babysitting party. Not too close, but close enough for Xan measures. It led her to wonder who needed the watchful eye more, the pups or from what she had learnt, Xan. Kove was present as well, though her attention was not focussed to him just yet, though her mind wavered to who would challenge her that night. Surely Damien hadn't been to happy of the rank switch and she expected no less than a challenge from him if he arrived.

Her tail swayed ever so gingerly, not showing the hunger that ached inside. While her eyes loomed at the open deer, it's insides made her mouth water before she knew it. Though they were a pack and formalities were a necessary, the stakes were high on the adrenaline fueled night. And something told her that the hunt would prove to be more than just a normal hunt at all.

to make certain they fear you more than they do the enemy
