Sofi tried to gauge whether the wolf was serious or not. The wolf broke out into a run, paws slamming against the ground. The coyote pushed off the snow and scrambled to get as far away as possible. Her muscles hurt. Sharp pains ripped down her spine and legs. Her eyes were wide with terror as she ran for her life away from the creature.

After Reek, she had been perhaps too careless with her approach of the she-wolf. Never again would she make such a mistake. No matter how hard Sofi ran, the wolf was better built and faster. In a matter of seconds the red beast was upon her. Sofi felt something snap onto her hindquarters; instinctively the coyote ripped herself away and cried out in pain as she began to bleed. She sprung away, but her leg quickly became hot and stopped working as it should have. All she could feel was a terrible wet heat. The smell of her own blood terrified her.

The wolf would keep coming. Without help, this was her end.
