With that, Lucani's forepaw succeeded in stamping through the layer of ice on the puddle, and she could feel cold clean water. She soaked her paw deeply in it, and then immediately moved her paw to hover above Thuringwethil's wounds so that the water drip-dropped down onto them, cleaning the injuries and starting to wash away the blood for Lucani's inspection.
