Had that really been it? Had that been the reason for taking a 500 mile journey across forest, mountain, and desert? To press a reset button on her life was not something she had considered. Sofi had come on what she thought was a whim, to survive the epidemic of violence that had spread to her homeland. She realized now that there was nothing left for her back home. Like it or not, she was stuck here in the company of wolves.

"An owl told me about the Teekon," wow did it sound stupid when she said it out loud. "He said it was a peaceful place, free from the 'tyranny of man'." Sofi was not sure if it had been such a good idea to trade humans for wolves, but she seriously doubted the canines were capable of the kinds of brutality she and her family had experienced.

"So I left and came here," Sofi explained, offering a small smile.
