She seemed to not notice his lame slip, which made him relax a smidgen. Until the moment she asked him where to find these "pretty" places he'd mentioned, which meant she had definitely noticed his vocabulary. He felt his cheeks warm again, though he did notice she hadn't used it in any sort of mocking tone. Maybe she didn't even realize that guys weren't supposed to call things "pretty". Could he really be that lucky though?

Regardless, the conversation moved forward. Her proposal was intriguing to him and he smiled as he gave an eager nod. "I'm Whittier," he said happily, "I know the perfect place to show you. I just gotta figure out where exactly it is from here... I'm thinking my sister probably headed that way too though, so maybe I'll get to kill two birds, eh?" He's not so good at idioms, but he was oblivious to this as he pulled himself up onto all fours to leave.
