Luke was a fisher, his expertise was in pulling food from the streams. He had eaten eggs, but was by no means a master at finding them. Fortunately, the area was plentiful, and he soon blundered into a nest by following the winding tracks of a pheasant hen. Seven eggs were clustered amid the grass and brush, and it was by shoving his snout into the tangle that he felt their smooth, round surfaces touch his nose.

He woofed, yipped, barked and could not help but wave his tail as he celebrated his find. It was such a small thing and yet, he felt powerfully the happiness that such a small success could bring. He proceeded to pluck and push the grass around until the nest was exposed to his admiration as he sat back and gazed upon it.
