He watches her every move, intent and learning. Silas yaps again when she touches her head, mouthing the air in her direction. His joy keeps his paws light, and he feels even more delight when she comes down to his level with a posture speaking wholly of play. Now we're talking.

He pounces at her nearest leg first, but it's a feint -- or the whelp's best attempt at one. The dark puppy's tactics are simple, but he is building his foundation that maybe one day he will hunt with, or defend his home with. He does not go all the way to make contact with her. Instead, he swats the space in front of her with one raised up paw.

But then, the real move comes. He springs on her again and this time bypasses her paws to go for her muzzle with licks. He's too excited about it, and licks at her with a flurry of soft blep blep bleps.
