Perhaps even more pressing to him was the way her body bowed, though he did not differentiate whether this was out guilt or shame, or even a mixture of both. His gaze did not linger on her long however, if only caught up in the actions of presenting the mess of meat and herbs at her feet. He nudged them closer.

"Eat," was all he said at first. It seemed utterly pointless to ask how she was doing when it was obvious. She was in pain, defeated much in the same way they had all been. But the food and the herbs that had long been stuck to them—no doubt attributed to the fact that he had carried it there in his mouth—would do her good.
