The evening was warm even in the glowing embers of the sun as it descended into the horizon, setting the glacier afire with an orange glow as it disappeared behind the temple of ice. Mint green gaze studied it for a moment, admiring it's beauty with softened chagrin creasing his brow. A flash of fire, creeping and weaving, ciders and smoke curling skywards as it ravaged the woods of his birth; a jolt of adrenaline rushed through his veins at the phantom pain of the kiss of the dancing flame upon his fur burning and marring where it touched. A low noise rumbled from deep within his chest, vibrating through the thick muscles that layered the strong bone and he turned from the sunset. It was not a luxury he often allowed himself for the unwelcome reminder it brought with it.
With his back to the setting sun and the glacier he made his way towards the pines and the maplewoods the territory harbored, shrugging into the thickets melding into the darkness, pausing to sniff at the base of a maplewood, the scent of a fox relatively fresh. He pulled back for a moment, salmon pink tongue drawing across his chops and snout. A fox was hardly substantial food but for now it would do. The hunt was short and though the vulpine was quicker than Ishtar he had worn it down and when cornered he made quick work of it's death. With his prize between his front paws he settled down upon his stomach in a sphinx like posture and began to dine.
