Lost Creek Hollow Wild things

Harlyn nodded her approval when her daughter correctly pronounced the word, then fell into step behind her as she took off. She suppressed a yawn that came knocking upon her throat and shivered it off. She didn't want to start yawning and make Larkspur think she was boring her. She needed to start getting some actual sleep and soon, otherwise it wouldn't matter if they stayed or went - she'd be dead from exhaustion long before they made a move.

The matriarch was unaware that as they went, they were being stalked. She should have been considering the state of things; that any minute they could be invaded by a murderous cougar. But, that was another reason she needed desperately to start sleeping again. Her fatigue was affecting her ability to remain alert.
